Griffey to the Red Sox?

Heard a rumor. Griffey for Bronson Arroyo. I don't know the details but I'm tempted to go for it. He seems to be back on track and wants a change of scenery. Without a boost like that, I'm not sure we make the playoffs in 06. Pretty crappy for the league's 2nd highest payroll.

We just signed Arroyo for $4M which is IMHO what he'd probably get on the Free Agent market. In other words, I think we could get Griffey and still replace Arroyo next winter from the list of free agents. I like Bronson, but don't see him being a top-2 starter. Of course I could be wrong.

He is my favorite player of all time... he should be where bonds is now...too bad he didnt use steriods.....when he plays, it is so gracefull (while he was in Seattle), his swing is so perfect...and his Gold Gloves and his range, him going all in out on every play.....

That is why he is my favorite player, I just want to see Griffey play...

Yeah Griffey was awesome in his prime, but injuries have cut him down the past few years. I would like to see him Win a Series Ring just because I think he deserves it.

He made it to the all century team, while bonds didnt....and he had only played 10 seasons....I hope Griffey body will keep him up, and for the next 5 seasons he will play as he did as a kid, this is wishful thinking, I think an American league team would be ideal for Griffey, for a day off or two, put him at DH, it would be a mistake not too...he can still hit.

Yeah he would make a perfect DH for the Mariners. (unforutnately thats wishful thinking.)

I would take it. I think that Arroyo is very replaceable with a team that can score a lot of runs. I probably heard the rumor the same place as you did Clay. John Purell sometimes gets it right. Plus you've got Schilling, Beckett, Clement, Wakefield, Papelbon, and Lester. If neither of the last two work out you can always find a #5 available from someone. Wells will probably get his trade which could bring anything in return.

Griffey for an average starter? Since they pretty much don't care about salary they'd be crazy not to take it.

This would defently help the sox, but its just a rumor. Griffey is staying in Cincy.
