Count me among the people who stole a version and then bought it from then on. I downloaded Mogul 2003 looking for something to replace my copy of the original PureSim, which had run out of demo days, and then proceeded to play the heck out of it. Around the middle of Baseball Mogul 2004's run I bought it when I saw it at... GameStop, I think, and then 2005 and 2006 I've bought almost right when they came out.

I don't know what the right balance of free playability is, but I'm sure there is one.

So this is basically proof that some amount of piracy is GOOD for Sports Mogul. Get some free older versions out there on file sharing systems, and they act just like the demo -- getting people to try the game and then buy the next version.

In my case yes. I honestly didn't know if the game was still being manufactured, so I took it upon myself to find the company who made it. Hence a year long search. It's the only game I ever downloaded when I used Kazza/ kaaza (spelling?) So darn addictive. Like I said before I'm glad I found BBM it hasn't been a dissappointing game at all, and has gotten better every year since. . Good Job

I got ootp earlier this year. It was a clunky prospect at best. The e-license really screwed things up for me (maybe you remember my rant on the subject). Anyhow, when I recently re-did my pc I didn't even bother re-loading it. I cannot believe that I have to go back to them and basically ask permission to re-install their game. Screw ootp and the faulty programming they rode in on!

I suppose my addiction to BBM is one more thing that my wife can blame on the Navy, since I found a version on sale for something like $5 at the Navy Exchange back in '99. I've been a regular customer since. In fact, to help keep her sane, I only buy 3-4 games a year, and one of them is always BBM.

I've been a fan of baseball games for years, but more interested in the management side of things rather than the joystick stuff. To me the best part of Tony LaRussa & High Heat Baseball was the ability to "sim" multiple seasons, taking teams well into the future. (I really liked High Heat 2003's inclusion of classic baseball stadiums, and my leagues played in venues ranging from Camden Yards & PacBell Park to the Polo Grounds & Forbes Field.)
With the demise of those games, I tried some of the current offerings, but found them to be too geared toward the PS2/XBox crowd. Then I heard about BBM.

My 2¢ worth: to me, the ideal game would to marry the management/sim features I love about BBM to a graphics engine of some of the current games, with the ability to act as bench manager: call for steals, bunts, pitch outs, make pitching changes, put in a pitch-hitter, etc. Let the computer swing the bat or make the pitch: just let me call the play, and watch the game unfold in living color. (Granted, such a game would probably $50 or more, so I'll stick with Baseball Mogul and just suffer until spring training puts baseball back on TV.)

Anyway, we've been doing some different things recently, from posting at TopWebGames.com (for BMO) to buying ad space in Sports Weekly and the Chicago Sports Review.

Curious how effective any of these have been.

I bought the original version as a result of a Webcrawler search. I had been playing S-O-M Computer Baseball, and wanted something with career play. I knew eventually someone would do it, so I did Webcrawler searches probably every couple of weeks until dem monkeys showed up on the 'net.

Oddly enough mine was by chance. I was browsing the Computer Games Aisles of a local Store, saw BBM2002 on the shelf, read over the cover, thought it was cool. Bought it, brought it home, and have been addicted ever since!

A friend of mine, installed it on my old 486. It was the first or the second edition of BB Mogul I think. Since then, I've tried some imitation, or more complex games than BBM, but I'm sticking this game (and HKY is supposed to be our National Sport, lol)and since then, bought all the editions of BBM(beleive it or not no d/l)...

i heard about it through a baseball chatroom on aol in like 1998 or 99. at the time i was looking for a baseball game that let you play multiple seasons (that was a big deal back then before it was in every game) the first version i bought was baseball mogul 2000.

BBM 2003, which I purchased at Wal Mart -- they had one copy nestled within the EA section, and I'd been looking for a good text game that was above all easy to learn (something OOTP isn't). That's also how I found BBMO, because my game had a free month coupon in it.
