I fell asleep during the second round, but heard he won it. Had 30+ for the three rounds!

The crazy thing is that the previous record for homers in the whole derby was 27 and he had 41!

It did run a little long though, and it got boring in parts, especially Jason Bay's awesome performance.

Theres been some speculation that slightly smaller harder baseballs were used in the derby, that would help explain Abreu's numbers. Baseball has been pushing real hard to get away from this steroids issue and I wouldnt put it past them.

Bobby Abreu may have had a good HR derby, but when it counts, he just does not come through.

I did like the international format they had this year. It is more interesting than the AL vs NL format of years past.

Have they ever thought of a fastest runner competition? Kind of like the fastest skater in the NHL skills competition? Now that would be interesting to see who is the fastest from the batter's box to homeplate, just like if you hit and inside the park homerun.

I'd love to see a fastest runner competition but it would be kinda hard to get a good measure of people. I don't think that it's as big of an attraction for other people though. For most people it would be like watching a track meet.

Did you notice how consistent his pitcher was though? He had most of 'em right there in Abreu's wheelhouse. Ortiz still got 17 in the first round but Dale Sveum was not very consistent in getting the ball to the same place every time.

I'd also like to see that. But you'd have to have a pitcher throwing bp style so that it would take into account all the factors of hitting it and then getting there.
