I'd been unsuccessfully looking for a game that I could be the GM of, and cut out the hour-long actual playing of the game itself, unless I wanted to play it. Then one day, I was peeking through the games at the corner GameStop...just kinda browsing, minding my own...when I noticed "Baseball Mogul 2007" just kinda chillin' there (And yes, I know this is a 5 year old post). I picked it up, took a look at it...and I noticed the Calvert Hall Cardinal on the front (being as I actually lived and worked in Towson, Maryland, across the street from the Calvert Hall school itself) and it piqued my interest. From there on out...it was like meeting the girl of your dreams and every word that comes outta her mouth just makes you love her more...everything I read on the box just awe'd me...so I bought it for $10 (it was a small investment if the game was not that good, I thought...) and have been playing it every night since (about a month or so...still a newbie!)

I was googling "Baseball Manager", which turned out to be a pirated version of BBM2k7.
I am used to playing the Championship Manager (UK soccer) series, and decided to give this one a try. EXTREMELY impressed!!! I haven't cheated (I've tweaked one or 2 things, but only by 10%), and at the moment have a Roster that would kick anyone's ***:
SP
Mathewson
McGinnity
Taylor
Johnson
Young
RP
Coveleski
Alexander
Marquand
C Meyers
1B Beckley
2B Lajoie
3B Steinfeldt
SS Wagner
LF Crawford
CF Cobb
RF Keeler
BENCH
Davis
Selbach
van Haltren
Bowerman
Ritchey
Acquired through:
- a lot of trading of rookies minor leaguers and players who weren't really getting a game, e.g., Germany Schaefer only had 8AB in 04 & 3AB in 05 so that my Roster was reduced to minimum numbers, then rebuilding with post-draft free agents
- only spending 900k of the team's money to increase the stadium capacity from 38805 to 42979
- getting players at lowest possible contract renewals (one player took a pay cut from 16.3M to 7.55M pa for a 5-year extension)
- playing on the gullibility of other AI-generated Clubs (traded a RP to WSN for 23m - madness!)
So far:
Won 3 WS (1901,04,05)
Won 4 NL Pennants (1901,02,04,05)
Finished 2nd in 03
After the baseball strike, my interest waned so I was playing some soccer sims in 97/98, but as with any addiction I fell back into my old habits of looking at boxscores of the Tigers, I heard Ernie Harwell in an interview, and that voice drew me backinto the fold. I had played Tony L. and Oldtimers BB but wanted something different, a deep search of the internet turned up a free version of BBM, prolly BBM1, loved it. I've owned 3 or 4 versions since. I still goof with some of the competitors but BBM is my second all time favorite sim. No.1 being Monday Morning Manager that came out in the mid 80's for my ol Atari 800.

Earlier in the year, I had seen it in a Wal-Mart in West Memphis AR, but didn't pick it up at the time. After I had done some looking into the game, I went back for it and all the copies were gone.
However, a week ago I stumbled across it (BM2008) in an EBstop in Effingham, IL (it was the last copy) and gobbled it up.
I was in toys "r" us at the time buying triple play baseball and saw this game for the pc. So I decided to buy it, Clay help me remember which one this was I am not sure if it was the original or 99.
I think it was the original one tho, it had pictures of drawn of women and robots as it went up the 2000s+ lol was interesting I must say hehe. Anyway I been hooked ever since I have played all of them and started to like football mogul too.
I like being the gm of the team running all of the aspects of it. I do that with todays ps3 games that I own and other as well. Playing madden and others like that I think it is cool to be able to manage that aspect of it. I so love this game I of course give it 5 stars it is that enjoyable and never gets old.
None of the above !
I was simply browsing titles at the local store.
Looking for a baseball game.
Saw this.
Thought it kinda reminded me of pete rose baseball or maybe hardball 5.
decided i liked the concept and wasnt really thrilled about games that i would need 20 buttons to run jump pivot throw etc.
havent played a pc baseball game in years.
am enjoying this alot.
