Angry G.D.M.F. Injuries are crushing me again

Suddenly ridiculous injuries are back and as bad as ever. I just got 9 injuries of at least 15 days between April 1 and June 1(averaging approx. 45 days). This does not include all of the 14 and under day jobs of which there are plenty too. I thought that 8.21 was supposed to be an upgrade? I think I'll go over to the dark side and buy ootp6 'till this thing clears up.

Its not that bad. Although the injuries were out of control on the first version I think the current version has a very realistic injury frequency. If you think there is too many injuries adjust the injury frequency in the league editor

BBMO would be a great experience for you. Just joined up a month ago myself and haven't been able to stay away.

I did go and buy ootp 6 after that post. I was kinda disapointed with it. It crashes quite a bit on my system and took me about 24 hours of tinkering to get to actually work. I still cannot see the ballfield background on play by play. I kinda gave up on it, I don't think it's worth the frustration of repeating games after crashes. I am thinking about the BBMO thing, as playing the AI in this version is getting old. The injury thing that kills me is more the length of the multiple injuries than the frequency of them. I often get multiple season/career ending injuries, all lumped together. I have had my whole pitching staff and three of thier replacements go down for 75 to 250 days in one month. While that has proven to be an aberation from the norm, two to three 200+ day injuries and usually at least one 200+ is a common thing (every year). I really cannot remember any team having that happen to them every year in reality. It ruins the fun of things when you can count on losing at least one starter every year, for the year. The slider only controls quantity not the quality (75,100,250, days) of the injury.

My least favorite thing about ootp6 is that screwed up licensing scheme they've got. I probably will not get the next version because of that alone.

Let's face it, under the best of conditions the AI is an idiot. As you said, BMO is worth thinking about, but you might also consider trying a play by email league. Take a look at the league section to see what's open right now.

One big warning: Playing verses humans is far better for busting your brain over how to win, but every league I've been in (four now) is less satisfactory when it comes to getting trades done. Sometimes you don't even get replies from trade offers, and are left wondering if the guy didn't get the email, didn't like the offer, or if he's an absentee owner (the unique breed of player who takes on a team, maxes farm spending, then comes back 6 seasons later to see how many prospects he's gathered).

2k6 should have eliminated absentee owners with it's new farm and draft setup, but some people haven't figured out yet that their favorite strategy doesn't work anymore.

Bugs and suggestions posted by me are always from a league player's perspective.
I only play Baseball Mogul in multi player online leagues. Not solo, not PbP mode.

trades in BMO are not done by e-mail but done instantly, the worse thing that could happen is that it is rejected and not anwsered.

Yeah there are a ton of active BMO leagues. Also BMO tells you how long since each owner logged in, and who's currently looking at their team, so you know if your trade offer will get through quickly. Also lots of folks post their AIM for trade offers.

Yeah we regret our little foray with Softwrap -- a similar licensing scheme.

You should be able to crank down the injuries in the League Editor.

Yeah, it slows down the rate of injury occurence but I still have too many looooooooong ones. Multiple 100 & 200+ day injuries in a single season, season after season.

I have personally bought half a dozen games from OOTP Sims / .400 Software / Gray Dog Software, and they all used Viatech and I never had a problem. Whenever there'd be a rare license glitch, I had my license restored less than 12 hours after emailing Viatech or the game's support staff.

I say whatever keeps people from stealing the game or buying it once and then selling it to four friends while keeping a copy for themselves is a good thing.
