This will probably make me sound very dumb, but I completely forget how to manually install game patches. Can anyone give me a quick crash course on where I unzip them? It's ben awhile since I've done it. Thanks.
EDIT: Nevermind... I figured it out.![]()

Umm, Clay why are players starting off on the DL when I start a new game? It seems like the game is actually placing healthy players there as if it was a level of the minors...
8.25
They seem to be all young players with ratings <60
This is a slightly unrelated issue, but there is some weirdness being created with the pre-game generated minor league stats. This guy started in AA then went to R then to A. Seen this with a few players.
Also the game is still generating stats for pitchers for the starting year. IE I started in 1977 and I have pitchers with AA stats on April 1st.
BTW, any chance we will see a delete minor league YBY stats option?
Finally, some of the actual assignments are still a tad off.
22 YO, rated in the 60s. No way this guy is still in A at this point. particularly after 2 major league stints. Based on the schedule I suggested he'd be in AA at his age and level, which makes much more sense (he'd be on the cusp of a AAA call up).
I was careful with the actual levels and ages I laid out. You'll find they are approprate in most cases.
Here is a guy the AI wants to put in AA. This is someone who is a reliable major leaguer who at the very least should be AAA material. According to my suggested schedule, he would be AAA.
Here is a 20 YO Paul Molitor, again from the base season. IRL Paul debuted in the majors at 21. The AI has placed him in R ball for some reason. My suggested schedule would have had him starting the season in AA which would have put him exactly in striking distance of where he would be IRL.
Is there any in-game correlation between a player's age, their overall ability, and their peak ability? Is playing a 26 year old 75/90 the same as playing an 18 year old 75/90, or will the 18 year old suffer huge penalties of developmental badness?
The 18 year old still has the ability to get a higher peak. The 26 year old should probably just start in the majors cause by the end of his 1st year he'll be in the 80's and at his peak after his 2nd. It's more that the 18 year old can still get better but the older guys are already on track for where they're gonna go.Originally posted by polarisslbm

It all comes down to their peak age. If a 26 YO has a peak age of 28-30 and an 18 YO has a peak age of 20-22 then they have about the same shot of hitting their potential. Most players however have a peak of 25-31 so your 26 YO is almost certainly very close to running out of time while the youngin' is likely to have years left on his warranty.Originally posted by polarisslbm

Aside from the DL, is anyone getting weird rookie draft salaries when they try to look at budgets?
Not that I've noticed yet. But I still think that there are waayyyyy too many super drafts. 6 or so players peak rated at 100. I can get into the third round (middle and sometimes lower end) and still pick up guys with mid and upper 80's peaks. I'm using 8.24 but this has been going for a few if not all updates. Also noticing frequent glut streaks ie 1 or 2 years of super 3B and 2b in the draft then another position such as Sp and Rp.
Historic or fictional players?Originally posted by robinhoodnik

This happened a lot to me when i was playing historical sims a few versions ago but has never happened in a 2k5+ game.
Fictional players with a game started with 2005 or previous rosters in bbm2k6 ver.8.24 and earlier. 3b seems to be the most overdone position in mine, too many very good and super prospects year after year.
