    AI not signing Free Agents???

i hear reports of free agents being passed up. Is this as big of a problem as it appears to be?

does it seem like there are usually quite a few decent free agents available right before spring training every year and looking to sign relatively cheap?

The opposing teams' AI on signing FAs needs some work. Too many major stars are still holding out for huge deals on opening day. Being able to sign impact players a month into the season is sort of cheap. If a player is unsigned a few weeks before the season starts, he should be looking for the best 1-year deal he can find.

It's definately noticable. Every year there a fair nimber of 80+ guys in the free agent pool on opening day. They'r eusually going for pretty cheap too.

I believe this was a stopgap measure to keep AI-controlled teams from picking up high priced talent only to stick 'em in the minors.

It's fine. It's just that it'd be nice for them to want to sign a 1 or 2 year deal instead of 5 or 6.

IMHO, the AI should make these guys ask for 1 year contracts, and have teams pick 'em up.

The even bigger problem is that many of these players are still FA's at the END of the season--- before the playoffs. You can build an all star team with very little money.

Is there any real hope that this issue will be looked at?

    Or is it highly unlikely?

I just wish i'd be able to sign some of these guys reasonably for one year like in real life. Even tho they'r echeap they cost way too much in the long run.

Says you. How about Clay? Since it's his game I will wait for him to answer? I wouldn't count on it from the looks of things so far.

He actually does look at these if you pay any attention and he will be working on this. It's just that it's a new issue because it is the result of another fixed bug. Give it a week or 2 and I'm sure it will be corrected.

Ya I'm pretty sure he has seen this, but that's what concerns me; the fact that he has seen this and that he might not think its a problem at all. Or that he does think its a problem, but might feel that its too big a fix or too overwhelming to fix for this version. Or he might not consider this a bug, since its more of a "flaw" or "weakness in the AI", and not really a bug. Whichever the case, its us buyers who get screwed in the deal because we get stuck with the game (assuming none of it does get fixed). And until we're given word that it will fixed or is being looked at, we can't really be optimistic.

Clays reaction usually is, if enough people are complaining about a certain problem, he better fix it, because he knows many of the consumers will have the same mindset you have in your post.
