    Mandatory retirement

Argh! I hate this mandatory retirement ****! I wanted 1 or 2 more years out of Maddux and he could have done it. He was still pitching above .500.

When is mandatory retirement? I never noticed this when testing. I don't like that feature ... since there is no mandatory retirement in baseball ... ****, look how long Nolan Ryan kept pitching!

everyone retires before they're 45. Maddux just up and retired on me in 2011. He would have tirned 45 in April. Every player will retire before they play a season at 45. I had just signed him to a contract thru 2012 with an option for 2013 and when i looked at my roster on draft day he wasn't there so i looked for him and he was retired. He was still pitching above .500. Look at the final seasons of some other HoF'ers, they sucked. Maddux at least was over .500 and comparable to other teams starters.

if a player is playing to get break a record...he will not retire...but if not..then they will retire.

So if you have barry bonds at age 45, and he has 750 homeruns, he will not retire at 45, maybe at 46 or 47 if he is still contributes...then he will try to get to 800.

This doesn't explain historical players like Phil Niekro.
