my guess 2k6 will have some major upgrades, you might beable to save it in 2k5 format, but, I doubt that 2k6 rosters will be backward compatible. Remember this is a new version, if you want new rosters, then support the company and buy it.

BTW: It is rumored that 2k6 will cost anywhere from 19.99-$35.00 because of the major upgrades that are coming!

The game has been out for over 8months...When...it was out long before 2 weeks ago. The new version will be even a bigger upgrade then 2k5 was....It will have the most options then in versions of the past when they upgraded.

So when is baseball mogul 2006 expected? I can't wait I haven't gotten one since 2003, so I'm ready for an upgrade.

At the earliest, there suspecting a March 15th release date, but there hasn't been an official date yet.

I'm on the beta team, and was just able to convert a league I created in 2K5 to 2K6, and now not only can I use the league structure as my default league if I choose, I was also able to keep simming where I'd left off in 2K5. So even in this beta stage, it appears to be backward compatible with 2K5 for sure ...

I did lose the line stats from the "history" my players had made, but it did keep their career stats intact. So if you're really desperate to keep an old save, you should do just fine, though you'll have to edit in names of A, AA and AAA teams and stuff like that which wasn't IN 2K5.

    Hope that helps

chip that is a bug, you should report it...

chipper, backwards compatible means, can you take a 2k6 roster and put it in 2k5....i havent tried it yet, but it probably wont work......

with 2k5, you can not take 2k5 games (.mog) and play them in 2k4 format....same with universe.dat.

but that was because of the minor league draft* i imagine now the rosters should be similar enough right??? even with the minor league system, it could put all the players in AAA

Backwards compatible actually means using old versions of save games in the new version - not the other way around.

Chipper is correct in his description of compatibility.
