    Devil Rays

Thought they had turned the scouting corner with the Zambrano for Kazmir trade, only to see rumors flying about them trading for Charles Johnson to catch and maybe even signing Rusty Greer. Are they for real?

Well I have a feeling the cheapo owners are going to run Pinella out of there after this season. Just to emphasize the point they trade a 21 year old pitcher with a nasty slider for a light hitting 27 year old defnsive catcher. The ownership has no clue what it takes to build a winner, and wont listen to those who do. BTW I am a Devil Rays fan....

They were close to pulling off a deal for charles johnson, but the deal fell through, because charles has a no-trade clause... Rusty Greer signed a minor league contract with the devil rays, but then retired, days before spring training started.

Just today espn reported that the Rockies will either trade or release Charles Johnson before Opening Day, and the devil rays continue to be interested but are unwilling to give up the nessary prospects that the rockies are seeking.

Charles Johnson most likely will be traded to the Devil Rays Before the end of spring training, according to espn, but the rockies will have to eat 15.6 of his 16 million dollars that he is due.

Nope. He was traded to the Red Sox for Byun-Hyung Kim, then the Sox released him. Weird, but there you have it. The Washington Times said today that he's looking to set up talks with the Devil Rays now that he's a free agent.
