Okay, I downloaded the demo last Saturday to check it out. I really liked the game, and decided to buy it.
I didn't want to wait for it to be shipped, and considering the problems I've read about in this forum with "Softwrap", I decided to run down to my local CompUSA to pick up the game.
I had to look twice at the box to make sure it was the same game, as the box has Blacktooth Games all over it (and www.blacktoothgames.com).
So I got it home and the first thing I did was take my saved game .mog file that I had been playing all week and backed it up in case anything happened.
Then I popped in the CD and installed the game. I noticed that during the install it installed the game to a different (new) directory under Program Files. I copied my .mog file into the new directory and fired up the game.
First I see that it is version 2.1.9.2. I remembered that the demo was version 2.1.9.4, so I tried the AutoUpdate thing but it tells me there are no updates.
I then notice that some things aren't working very well in my saved game. For instance, under Team I no longer have the Roster option allowing me to see my whole roster at once.
Then I start the season and none of the Offensive Linemen have any rushing yards averages in their stats.
After thinking about it for awhile, I have come to the conclusion that the demo install and the game I bought at CompUSA are the same game, but they have different installs and can actually co-exist on a Windows PC with both in working order. Unfortunately, the demo is the most current version and the CD in-store version has problems with saved games from the demo.
At the very least I would expect to be able to update the CD version from 2.1.9.2 to the latest version so that my saved game works properly.
Will there be an update to the CD in-store version soon? I find this situation unacceptable, where you give people a demo, and then their options are to deal with the horrible Softwrap, or to go to the store and get an older version of the game on CD with no updates available.
Thanks,
Keith
