Unable to run Football Mogul 2003 - Need Help. (Formerly Ummm...)

Go to the "ummmm' thread in the general questions forum. You've got answers there. A lot of us with AMD processors had a similar problem and James posted a patch from Softwrap that corrected it (for me anyway....)

After further inspection, I noticed that the posts which were "answered" before mine were answered by fellow players, not sportsmogul staff. Oops =)

I had the same problem as that chuckrock guy, it's giving me this message:
"The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be installed. The system cannot read from the specified device."

You do indeed have an AMD processor, so that is why you can't run Football Mogul...

Did you follow the instructions I wrote out about how to download and unzip the fix file?

Chuck was able to get it working after a few tries. He said he uninstalled ICQ (or turned it off at least).

I am getting an error saying I'm missing one or more files. It tells me to re-install. I've dome tis 3 times with no luck. I have a 1.7 Pentium 4 with 512MB RAM

I'm getting an error when I try to install the Demo as well. I've tried the patch with no luck.

I have now sent 3 emails - made 2 phone calls to sportsmogul and 3 to softwrap and I have posted in this thread twice and I still have no answer. Please guys give me something here I spent 20 bucks and I have nothing???? - I've been working on it for 2 weeks now! It shouldn't be this hard -

Same here... thought I got it working, but when I click on "try it" i get the following message:
"You are missing one or more files. You must have the full version of Football Mogul to take advantage of the patch. If you own the full version, please reinstall Football Mogul."

Hm, I downloaded it again and it worked this time. For some reason, though, the file I had before was FootballMogul2003.exe, and the one I got this time was football-mogul-2003-v2-1-9-1sw-setup.exe. So, to anyone else having this same problem, that might help.

That did it for me too. They snuck a little update in there without telling us...

got it to run, but I am unable to put in the reference number. It keeps saying that I put in the wrong number even though I am copying and pasting to make sure there are no typing errors. I should have waited to buy this. I was dumb to think that it would be OK on the first shot. I should have learned my lesson from the tons of patches that BB Mogul 2003 had. I don't mean to *****, but it's like Microsoft. They already have a service pack 1 for XP Pro. Might as well call all the updates service packs, makes me feel more at home.

Hi, Guys -

Sorry for the problems with 2.1.9.3. There was a bug that we missed in testing. (Shame on us -- we tried to cut a corner and it bit us.)

So we changed the site links back to the older version, 2.1.9.1 which we knew worked.

We have now posted a new version, 2.1.9.4.

Please try downloading this version. It has passed our testing. Please let us know if it works for you.

got an e-mail from softwrap.com. They had me download another setup (must be the new patch) and try it again. I don't like the fact that my credit card had to be billed twice and Christa the customer service rep said that they will remove one of the charges as soon as they see it. I'm sorry, but I don't feel too comfortable with this. I think the better solution would have been to let me download the patch, and if the old reference number wasn't going to work, then just issue me a new one. This is my money we are talking about. I have gone through the problems of getting money back from a company that owes you. Once, I tried to get money from my down payment for a cell phone that I had. The contract said after 1 year, they will send it to you. I had the phone in good standing for a year then tried to get it back. It took them over 4 months and about 15 call to their support line to finally get it. I hope I don't get the same problems.
