    Error message?

Are you getting any kind of error message when you install the game?

Are you able to install it? Can you run it?

I'm not sure what the problem is, because I need more information about where things are breaking.

Please let me know where in the installation process things are breaking down.

It installs just fine, no problems at all. I get no error messages, I click it to turn on the game, and it begins to load and that is it, it never loads up, no blank screen or anything. Even after CTRL-ALT-DELETE, it shows it as running and responding (no little error message in the box) yet it just is not showing up.

    Arrow

Now I was able to install it on my good computer (800,256,NVIDIA Geforce MX 100/200)
I noticed that the install was a bit different (Both run off of Windows 98SE)
On the computer that is will NOT WORK ON a little box pops up asking you to restart, while on the computer it does work on this does not happen and the game works ok.

There are a few problems when it does work, random lock ups where you can not scroll down lists, and not being able to see all the player stats.

Do you get anything at all when you select Football Mogul 2003
    from the Start menu?

Or is the problem after you get the trial requester and
tell it to run Football Mogul 2003?

That box never comes up, at all.

It looks like it installs just right, when looking at that computer and the one it does work, all the files look the same size and what not.

The logo is in the start menu as well, and as I said, it does show as running, except there is nothing there at all. just my norm desk top.

    Unhappy

I'm having the exact same problem.

It installs fine, no problem. The icon appears in the start menu, but when I start it, it doies nothing. The system tray says fb2k3 is running, but the programs screen never actually pops up and starts?

What's the deal? I wanna play!!!

    one interesting note:

when I try to rerun the setup program and try to modify the program features which were installed with the program initially, the setup screen does not display ANY program features as installed.

    hope that helps.

    Question Firewall or Internet issues?

I noticed that Football Mogul tries to access the Internet right away as it looks for an update file.

Is your computer actively online when you start it up?

Perhaps it's trying to initiate the Internet verification and it's unable to so it hangs.

    -or-

Do you have a firewall or some other system settings that prevent an application from going out to an Internet site without first giving it permission to? My firewall prompts me, but I have a friend who's firewall simply blocks anything from going out that isn't added manually. Once again, if it's getting blocked it may keep 'looking' thus causing it to hang.

    -or-

You may want to try the old fail safe and disable your anti-virus protection, especially during installation of the game. I recall McAfee causing issues with previous versions of Baseball Mogul.

    -or-

Do you have your most recent video drivers. This version of Football Mogul looks like it uses more video options than previous Baseball Mogul versions, especially since you can finally use a full window greater than 640x800. If they are taking more advantage of video displays, then this may be your problem. This might sound like I'm slamming ATI, but I've often found that I need to upgrade my ATI drivers regularly as new games come out.

    -or-

You should also ensure that you've got the latest Direct X installed (8.1 I believe), plus the matching ATI video drivers for it.

    -disclaimer-

I'm still going through the evaluation copy before buying it, and I'm not a Sports Mogul support guy, so my suggestions may not help. I've simply listed a few items I saw from previous games from this company and other similar games.

    Re: Firewall or Internet issues?

Thanks for the suggestions. There are a few that can be ruled out.

Football Mogul does not use DirectX so you don't need to worry about updating it. Your current display drivers should be ok as well, but it's always a good idea to keep them updated anyway.

If you run Football Mogul and get nothing at all, it is probably having problems with the time/usage limitation system that is currently being used for the demo. We should have a fix for this shortly.

So are there any answers to what is going on, or do I and the rest that have this problem just chalk this game up to something we can not buy/use ??

    Call in to SoftWrap

    Hi, TGG -

I currently have a call in to SoftWrap, and I'm waiting to hear from them about this issue.

It sounds like this is some kind of problem with the SoftWrap wrapper, so I'll need their input to find a solution.

    Thanks for your patience.
