Updatin mogul 2011 to include players from 2011 on

I'm in a league using Mogul 2011. We are just wrapping up the 2000 season and saw fictional players for the first time. I'm trying to find a way to update the data files in the 2011 input/players folder to include players from 2011 on, to try and minimize fictional players and keep my league going strong for a while yet. (some people are fine with fictional, others not so much - just trying to find a middle ground). We're only at 24 teams, so with the real-life players thru 2019, we should be all set for 6 rounds of drafting for a while yet!

The 2011 engine clearly uses the Master.csv file to grab draftee data, but not all player data is in there. It doesn't have ratings or anything, so those must come from an additional file. Other people in the league say the data files changed after 2017, so they can't just throw me that data to load.

Has anyone done data updates like this before? I am wondering if I have to do it all myself - and if so, then I might as well input new players from 2019 too, and get that draft class maxed out!

Re: Updatin mogul 2011 to include players from 2011 on

I'm trying to figure this out myself, and use new data from later Moguls to update the Mogul 2011 files:
Master.csv (dates of birth, player names, vitals, righty/lefty etc)
    Pitching.csv, Batting.csv, Fielding.csv (stats from 2010 and beyond)

    The problems are multi-faceted:
    1) at some point the game files went from using lahmanId to baseballReferenceId. So I have to vlookup and get back to the original value, before putting it in the system! argh
    2) various changes in the files - headers added that weren't in 2011, columns inserted, team abbreviations changed (SDN, LAN, etc became SDP, LAD, etc), column meanings like STINT changed

I tried just throwing the data I had in there, without accounting for the above, but my 1983-born players did not appear in the 2001 draft.

Again if anyone has done anything like this, please let me know.

Re: Updatin mogul 2011 to include players from 2011 on

Okay got a bit further - by loading the later Mogul data into the BM2011 folders, and THEN editing these 4 files, I can get players that didn't debut until 2010, but were born in 1983, in the 2001 draft!

    File 1 - database/Master.csv: https://www.sendspace.com/file/p1ql25
    File 2: database/Batting.csv: https://www.sendspace.com/file/v92skw
    File 3: database/Fielding.csv: https://www.sendspace.com/file/4dxb01
    File 4: database/Pitching.csv https://www.sendspace.com/file/zbzmkx

After some minor QA, it is great, but not perfect:
    - a few guys have 100 fielding. Too many middle infielders. Probably left a column off in my files.
    - lots of pitchers with 100 hitting. wondering if a column is off in my data here too.

But at least version 1.0 works!

Finding that health rating drops from these players. from 72-73 average for 170-195 draftees, to more like 69 average for 235 draftees. Maybe that's how Mogul works with a higher player count?
