    “Klein back, Patton joins Shields and Wilkerson on sidelines ” – David Warner, San Diego Tribune

    Tight End Bob Klein has been cleared by the medical staff to participate in practice this coming Wednesday. Joining Shields and Wilkerson on the “cannot participate list” is Defensive Tackle Jerry Patton. Patton was injured in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Mavericks in Fort Worth. Patton will miss next week with pulled quadriceps. Patton, who has made a living stopping the run game, has 45 tackles and 2.5 sacks on the season Coach Coryell and Defensive Coordinator Jackie Simpson were quick to point out that second year Defensive Tackle Mitch Sutton will get the start again Oakland on Sunday. Sutton, 6’4”260 out of the University of Kansas, will be making his fourth start in a Bolts uniform and has 4 career tackles,

    Construction at the property on Murphy Cannon Rd began this past week. General Manager James Harland and the San Diego front office announced that the team hopes to move into the new facilities in the spring of 1977. Robertson Construction Inc. broke ground at the future site on Tuesday afternoon.

    Wayne Clark and the San Diego Chargers play host to Kenneth Stabler and the Oakland Invaders this weekend at San Diego Stadium. The Bolts are coming off a disappointing offensive performance last week which saw the offense produce s mere 202 yards of total offense. Lead signal caller Wayne Clark enters the game with a 89.8 quarterback rating and has a full arsenal of weapons at his disposal again this weekend. “On the defensive side of the ball we will have to go without Jerry Patton” remarked Coach Coryell Thursday afternoon. “He joins Shields and Wilkerson on the sidelines this weekend.” The Bolts enter the week 15 contest with the 2nd ranked offense and the 14th ranked defense in the league
