    Talent Expansion

    This has been my biggest complaint in a game I love otherwise.

    Unfortunately, this problem, which has gone unaddressed for years, makes the game almost unplayable.

    Simply, there gets to be too many 75, 80, 85, 90 and 95 rated players in the game.


    I just did a sim of 25 years and the following occurred.
    There was a 60% increase in the number of 90+ rated players in the sim
    There was a 31% increase in the number of 85-89 rated players in the sim
    There was a 59% increase in the number of 80-84 rated players in the sim
    There was a 30% increase in the number of 75-79 rated players in the sim
    There was a 11% increase in the number of 70-74 rated players in the sim
    There was a 33% decrease in the number of 65-69 rated players in the sim
    There was a 20% increase in the number of 60-64 rated players in the sim
    There was a 2427% increase in the number of 55-59 rated players in the sim

    The above information is included in the attached image - including the numbers intermittently during the sim.


    Obviously, there's a massive increase in the total number of players in the sim - about 600 additional players. That'd be ok if these were almost all lower talent players, replacement level. But, there are huge increases in the number of star players. The problem with this is that it brings the overall average up. The problem with this is there is less differentiation between teams, and less differentiation between the best players in the league and average players.

    Just did another test with the Setting altered to:
    Amateur Draft Talent
    Fictional Players (Batters) -100%
    Fictional Players (Pitcher) -100%
    Historical (Real) Payers -100%
    College Players -100%

    The results were, in some ways, worse

    After 25 years, somehow, the number higher talent players actually increased
    90+ players increased by 70%
    85-89 players increased by 56%
    80-84 players increased by 48%

    But
    75-79 players decreased by 19%
    70-74 players decreased by 14%
    65-69 players decreased by 47%

    Then again,
    60-64 players increased by 43%
    55-59 players increased by 5380%


    So, there was the desired increase (if the game insists on increasing the total number of players) in prospects/organizational level players, but a decrease in the desired 65-80 rated range. And a useless increase in 80+ rated players.

    A few more tests of different player creation settings.

    With Career Paths - Potential decreased to -100%
    90-99 = 60% increase
    85-89 = 26% increase
    80-84 = 38% increase
    75-79 = 3% increase
    70-74 = 20% increase
    65-69 = 7% increase
    60-64 = 75% increase
    55-59 = 2753% increase

    So, again, massive amounts of new star players


    And with both Career Paths - Potential and all the setting under Amateur Draft Talent set to -100%
    90-99 = 240% increase
    85-89 = 83% increase
    80-84 = 23% increase
    75-79 = 26% decrease
    70-74 = 18% decrease
    65-69 = 28% decrease
    60-64 = 69% increase
    55-59 = 5007% increase

    And, again, even with all of the player creation settings turned down as far as possible. The game produces 100's more highly rated players.

    There's a claim that the problem is "fixed". It obviously was not fixed

    With Player Settings Amateur > Draft talent > Fictional Hitters and Fictional Pitchers both at -100%
    There are
    8 players with 95 potential
    38 players with 90-95 potential
    50 players with 85-89 potential
    52 players with 80-84 potential
    30 players with 75-79 potential
    15 players with 70-74 potential
    9 players with 65-69 potential
    5 players with 65 or less potential


    Here's your problem
