Re: The greatest game ever played

People that consider this the greatest game ever must have loved the steroids era, when MLB resembled a slow pitch softball league. All offense.

This was a great game, especially when you consider it was Game 7 of the WS, and gave us the only Game 7 walk off homer in the history of the Fall Classic. Casual fans love offense in all sports. When offense goes up, attendance tends to increase. The polar opposite to this game would be Game 7 of the 1991 WS. Classic pitchers duel, tied at 0-0 after 9 innings. One "fan" suggested that this was not a great game since "nothing happened". Superb pitching and great defense equates to "nothing" to casual fans.

The 1960 game had 24 hits and 19 runs, and, of course, the walk off HR. A little too much offense for my taste. Great game though.
