    Unofficial Patch: Version 19.16.2

This patch is version 19.16.2 of Baseball Mogul 2016. It includes significant changes to player rating calculatings since Version 19.14:

    1) New rating scale added. In Baseball Mogul Diamond, a rating of 80 roughly indicated the average skill level of a major league player. For Baseball Mogul 2016, the rating system was made more precise and the MLB average was set at exactly 75. This drop in ratings led to several complaints that "the ratings were wrong". In the Options Dialog (on the Tools Menu), you now have four choices for rating scales:

    • Classic: Rating scale used in Baseball Mogul Diamond. Scores range from 50-100 with the major league average near 80. This is the default scale for new games.
    • MLB Scout: Format commonly used by professional scouts, ranking players on a 20-80 scale. '50' is defined as average for a major leaguer.
    • 20-Point: Players are rated from 1-20 with the major league average around 13.
    • Native: Rating scale used internally by Baseball Mogul (and by the new Player Rating Editor). Scores range from 25-100 with the major league average equal to 75.

    2) Fixes to rating calculatings in historical seasons. For example, Overall ratings for relief pitchers were generally too high across the board.

Install this patch by following these instructions:

    1) Download the attached file "BB-2016-v19.16.2.zip" to your desktop.
    2) Double-click the attached file to unzip it.
    3) Open your Baseball Mogul 2016 folder (by choosing 'Open Game Folder' from the Help Menu)
    4) Close Baseball Mogul 2016.
    5) Copy the unzipped file ("BB-2016.exe") to your Baseball Mogul 2016 folder (e.g. "C:\Sports Mogul\Baseball Mogul 2016\")
    6) Approve any requests to copy over existing files.
    7) Run the game normally using any previously installed shortcuts.

(The above assumes that you installed Baseball Mogul 2016 to the default directory).

    Thanks!

    Clay

    Updates:
19.16A fixed a bug reported by glennrwordman that was displaying some ratings incorrectly (ratings were correct in Sortable Stats, but could exceed 100 in the Scouting Report).
19.16.2 removed the useless checkbox reported by Big Mikey (below).

The installation has resulted in rating OVER 100 for many players in existing games. Kevin Youkilis, Eye: 103. Matt Morris, endurance, 101.

Is there a way to fix this new issue?

The quickest way is to go to Options on the Tools menu and change 'Player Rating Scale' from the first selection (with an MLB average of 80) to the last selection (MLB average = 75).

An even better option is to download and install the above patch again (I have replaced version 19.16 with 19.16A).

Which rating scale should we play with? The blogspot article makes it sound if we want the best experience and for player rating distribution we should play with native, but the default classic

    Re: Unofficial Patch: Version 19.16

Native (average = 75) is probably the "best" in that the same scale is used in the Player Editor. But the default (average = 80) is more familiar to people who've played previous versions.

Those two scales should be similar, with the exception of the 5-point difference, and the fact that a lot of ratings get squished into the 90-95 range when you set the average to 80.

Definitely post here if you see problems for *any* scale like what glennrwordman reported above.

    Thanks!

Since this is player distribution related I'll post here. I see there is a new check-mark box (at least new to my knowledge) that says constrain talent distribution. What's that supposed to do if you check-mark it or leave it un-check-marked?

That check-box doesn't do anything (it's from an older kluge to calibrate player ratings each year). Thanks for pointing it out!
