Yankees plan to stay under the luxury-tax threshold

Hal Steinbrenner actually said something about this last week I think, but the NY Times put up a good article about it this morning: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/03/sp...austerity.html

I think Cashman makes a great point:
“It was very difficult when it was just open-ended,” Cashman said. “It would change on a daily basis. ‘Don’t lose the player, at all costs.’ That’s not a good negotiating position to be in, and if it’s very vocal at the same time? If it’s public and private, you’re basically in the position of getting rolled.”

    Good stuff.
You insist that there is something a machine cannot do. If you will tell me precisely what it is that a machine cannot do, then I can always make a machine which will do just that! -J. von Neumann
