    That Rush guy

Hint: If you don't like Rush Limbaugh (like me), then quit talking about him!

Yea, I'm breaking my own rule here, but the fact is that he's already the #1 news story (according to my Google News, anyway). But, you know, the point here is that this is exactly the reaction that he was counting on. Actually, it's an orders of magnitude better reaction than he was hoping for, I'm sure. This guy has been making idiotic sensationalists comments for decades already... way to give him back some relevance, folks.

He's not even conservative (though poses as he is) which pisses me off anyway.

Yea, no kidding. The guy is just a freak parody of his earlier self these days, anyway.

He's an absolutely vile human, and the day he dies, you can count me among those who will be standing in line, waiting to water the flowers on his grave.

Hopefully, his latest mysoginistic garbage will be enough to get people to put enough pressure on his sponsors to disassociate themselves from his brand of trash.

Hah! Not going to happen. They may all hate him, but do you realize just how many people listen to his show?
Hell, he probably doesn't believe half of the garbage that comes out of his own mouth, but that's basically the point. Rush Limbaugh is the epitome of trolling behavior, and the sad thing is that it works.

    Probably not.

Far too many. Any furriners who want to make the claim "Americans are stupid" need only to look at Rush's ratings for a heaping spoonful of self-affirmation.

That certainly doesn't excuse the garbage that he spews onto the airwaves on a daily basis. And the next person I encounter (not here) who tries to paint me as an oversensitive liberal by claiming that Rush is "satire" or "comedy" gets a kick in the dick.

You know... the "Americans are stupid" crap is half the reason why guys like Limbaugh exist. What a disappointing comment to see.

I didn't say it was a necessarily justified trope; however, I do question the intellectual chops of someone who needs to listen to Limbaugh for entertainment.

And yes, Americans ARE stupid, because Americans are people, and people, by and large, are stupid. Especially in large groups.

    Re: That Rush guy

i haven't followed or heard of the story at all tbh. i googled it after reading this and assume you're referring to this contraceptive controversy...rush calling this girl a $lut.

i read a small bit, find it kind of humerous tbh. maybe someone can bring me up to date so i don't have to sort through the slant. what i get so far is this law student sits before congress asking them to pay for college students birth control pills as it's expensive to obtain protection during these college years when they are very sexually active? is that the jist?

if that's the jist...i'm not so certain where i sit. if this were about population control, i may be able to be sold. i don't understand why pills have to be the method of choice however...but regardless, the little i've read doesn't seem to make this purely about population control. it seems college kids are having alot of sex (shocker) and birth control is expensive so they want the american people to pay for them to have "safer" sex.

fu(k them if thats the case. go to the corner store and buy condoms like the rest of us have been doing for many years now.

it was a bit harsh i guess to call her a $lut. I assume being familiar with Rush it was undeserved. I would think and hope she were able to take some sort of legal action. defamation of character? I'm sure she'll find no shortage of people willing to donate to her legal counsel fund.

Tells me pretty much all I needed to know, tbh.

    1. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a hearing from which Sandra Fluke was barred from attending. Only men served as witnesses at this hearing.

    2. This is not about "getting free birth control." This is about having birth control (specifically, the pill) covered as part of a health plan. The pill has other medical uses besides contraception, including regulating a bad menstrual cycle, prevention of certain types of cervical cancers and lessening the often debilitating effects of menstrual cramps. And yes, birth control pills are expensive -- a full year's prescription runs about $3,000. And these right-wing media assholes are talking about the pill like it's Viagra, only taken before or after sex, because they don't know anything.

    http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/Beyon...rol.pdf#page=4

Oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) are primarily intended to prevent pregnancy. But they also offer a number of additional and immediate health benefits, particularly for women who experience menstrual-related disorders. According to the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), OCPs help relieve or reduce the symptoms of severe menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea), which is experienced by up to 40% of all adult women and can lead to absences from work and school. The pill (as well as other hormonal contraceptives) is useful in treating excessive menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), which can lead to anemia, and it also has the potential to reduce acne and excess hair growth (hirsutism).

Other noncontraceptive uses include prevention of menstrual-related migraines, and treatment of pelvic pain that accompanies endometriosis and of bleeding due to uterine fibroids. Additional benefits identified by ACOG are normalization of irregular periods and suppression of menstruation. For some women, predicting when they will have their period or avoiding it altogether may be a matter of convenience; for others, menstrual regulation may help prevent migraines and other painful "side effects" of menstruation.
It says a lot that the GOP is fast turning this election year into a War on Women. Yeah, THAT'S a war they're gonna win.

Also, I don't hear any of them clamoring for Viagra to be barred from being covered, probably because most of them need it.

Rush Limbaugh is an utterly detestable pile of human excrement. He and the rest of the right-wing echo chamber.
