uh no. consensus merely means a good majority.

a : general agreement : unanimity <the consensus of their opinion, based on reports … from the border — John Hersey> b : the judgment arrived at by most of those concerned <the consensus was to go ahead>
you're the one nearly "falling off your chair" because someone says Philly should be the consensus pick. Thats not an outrageous statement in anyway.

lol, you really need to look up the word consensus. there is a consensus in this thread apparently, one which you agree with, that Philly should be the favorite.

I don't know why people are getting all excited about the Babin signing, TBH. He's 31 years old and finally "broke out" last year at thirty. He's had one solid season in his career. Raheem Brock had nine sacks last year in less snaps, but you don't see anyone signing him to a five year contract.

It is to me. There's no way to prove it anyway. So if you want we can go back and forth for pages arguing about the word consensus. I don't agree the the Eagles are the team to beat either. Should have clarified that. Have you checked the Vegas odd BTW?

he was solid last year and is playing opposite Cole in a blitz happy defense. I think he should be able to put up solid numbers, but agree with the reservations.

Cullen Jenkins to the Eagles. This one hurts. After the super bowl he was almost in tears about how much he loved Green Bay & the fans. He is truly a dynamic player when healthy. A game changer for Philly. That said I think it was the right move for GB. In Ted I trust!

I don't think Atlanta is the odds-on favorite. A favorite, yes, and probably one of the top 3 teams in the NFC. In short, I'm not arguing this because I think the Falcons are the clear cut favorite to come out of the NFC.

I think that team is an a great position to win 13 games this year, take the East and then walk into the playoffs a top 2 seed. That being said, it's not like they put themselves so far above Green Bay or Atlanta that it's a guarantee they are walking out of the NFC. Packers were so injured last year and they still put together a SB run. And Atlanta is only going to get better. Though, fun fact. Falcons have never had back to back playoff years in their teams history...

But, yeah, I think the Eagles are pretty damn good and going to be a force in the NFC.
This obviously makes the team better, and I'm not saying that it doesn't turn them into one of the top 3 teams in the NFC. But, they've got some other holes that need to be filled, a QB who has a history of getting hurt and who has an unsustainable play-style, amongst other issues.

They'd never had back-to-back winning seasons before Mike Smith and Thomas Dimitroff started running the show either.
