I think the actual insinuation is that Bautista is the only player in the major leagues taking steroids right now. The rest of the league is entirely clean and only Jose is "on the juice", allowing him to completely dominate the entire league.

That's the most reasonable explanation, right?

Yes. He discovered some invisible, magical substance that only he knows about and because he's such an anti-social a$$hole, he refuses to share it with others. I heard an interview with him yesterday where he talked about eschewing weights and emphasizing stretching and flexibility following his sports hernia surgery last year. I'm sure he hasn't put away the weights altogether, but it's good to know he realizes that what will keep him on the field is flexibility, rather than strutting around like some circus freak Russian Olympic weightlifter. Not mentioning names here, just that I prefer the more well rounded baseball that we've been seeing over the last few years to the arcade style of the late '80's to mid '00's.

Apropos of nothing discussed above: When's the last time anybody saw Bautista break a bat? He has an uncanny ability to barrel whatever he chooses to swing at.

i'm sure throughout history we can find many guys who've had sick months. Phone me when it is sustained. Curious what was Bonds best month during his hey day.

What are you insinuating dickay? In terms of how locked in he is, and the last guy that I remember being this locked in...Yes, it's Bonds. What of it?
Really? Last April I believe it was Cano who was tearing the league up. Josh Hamilton hit near .500 one month last year with about 10 home runs. And finally didn't Tulowitski break a record for HR's in a month in August or Sept last year? We have players who have these freak months every year......show me one, other than Bonds, who's sustained such a crazy peak. And when that happens, then that person can be compared to him.

I like this approach, if indeed it's what he does (read, say one thing and do another). I wish Zimmerman would also try this approach to his exercise routine.

Look, Bautistas a great player off to a great start. But these early season comparisons are a joke. It's like the guy who hits two HR's on opening day being on pace for 324 HR's. Gimme a break.

interesting angle, and plausible. i was more thinking that MLB and specifically Selig must have undertaken an agenda at rejuvenating baseball in Canada via the long ball and want Bautista to be the face of it. They've conspired with opposing pitchers to throw him cupcakes.

Not quite up to what Bautista has done in a month and a half so far, though.

The point of the article filihok linked to was just to go over how absolutely phenomenal Jose Bautista has been so far this season. It is not saying that Jose Bautista is going to sustain this level of performance or that Jose Bautista is now as good as Barry Bonds was at his peak. Jeffy wasn't saying that either. What he said that you replied to originally was that if Bautista keeps this up, he's likely to be intentionally walked more. I think that's relatively self-evident.

i was pretty sure jeffy wasn't making that comparison...and thought that was evident in my post....however action then chimed in with remarks insinuating a comparison between bonds and bautista. now i realize he's a blue jay fan....but i think thats putting the cart ahead of the horse a bit. bautista's had a great month (and a half). i'm not taking that away from him...but i'm not going to go out of my way to say he's as good as Bonds was.

good find with the numbers of those i listed. those are just some off the top of my head from last year. is the claim that Bautista's month is really that rare? Do you know of other months over the past decade or so of close comparison? I find it hard to believe there weren't any. I mean, its a special month (and a half) but I don't think its something only he and bonds have done over the past decade or so. I could be wrong in that.

I guess my question would be, if you got this from what dickay posted do a part of you think something isn't on the up and up with Bautista?

Another question I ask, if he did fail a drug test, how shocked and surprised would everyone be?

To be honest a part of me wonders myself as I wondered last year. I remember seeing posts from some people that he passed some tests last season, that only made me wonder if there is something out there that is yet detectable by current tests. Yeah whole conspiracy theory type stuff, but with all in the past I just can't help having on my foil hat.

Yes there is. When you keep insisting that Jeffy was claiming that Bautista = Bonds, and you've been told repeatedly that's not what he said, that's being obstinate. Stop being a tool.

i think there will almost always be undetectable stuff out there. i wouldnt be surprised at all if bautista or many are on something. when it comes to peds, ive come to a place where i dont think its cheating unless ones caught. there has always been attempts to get an edge in baseball and always will be. if hes juicing and not caught.. more power to him. if he gets caught...then he deserves a hefty suspension, fine and public scorn.
