    List "Friend Of"

For those who pay attention to happiness ratings, when deciding whether to trade someone, knowing who they are a friend of would be a lot more useful than knowing who their friends are. On occasion I might keep a player who is a friend of a star or potential star with so-so happiness. It seems that reciprocal friendships are much rarer in Mogul '11 than they were in Mogul '06.

So, add a list on the Personality Page of who someone is a friend of, with links just like the current friends list.

Also, don't baseball players ever make new friends? It seems that guys have the same four friends their entire careers, regardless of whether those friends are still playing.

Good point, those used to change in 2K6, don't seem to anymore.

Yeah, it seems nearly random, like a star player is friends with someone who is in AA.
Bill Mueller was the best third baseman in the year 2003. He was not the best third baseman when I wrote my first signature, because that was in 2001...

I would just ditch the whole friends issue anyways. I've never heard of player playing better because he has a friend on a team.

Well, in real life there is such a thing as clubhouse chemistry, so I take the whole happiness thing to be an approximation of that. Key difference is that in Mogul, it's rare for one player to improve more than one teammate's happiness, while in real life, one or two leaders can inspire an entire team. Scott Rolen and Orlando Cabrera seem to have done that for the Reds this year, and Bill James credited Hal MaCrae with turning the Royals into perrienal contenders. Anyway, I try to avoid trading for or keeping unhappy players, gives me something other than pure talent to consider.

In real life friends has had an effect. Like with Pettitte and Clemens in Houston. They worked out together, and Pettite going to Houston brought Clemens there too. I think there should also be an "enemies list" if there is a friends list. Players that cant play together, or just dont like eachother. Clubhouse chemistry should have a lot more of an effect in BBM than it does. I dont know how it would work, maybe complimentary traits could add a bonus or something like that. The 2010 Giants have tremendous chemistry, and it seems like BBM cant quantify this yet

    Re: List "Friend Of"

Statistically, it's probably impossible to measure chemistry, so it's probably not worth trying too hard to implement something "realistic." Us Reds fans think trading Tony Perez (1977) was a disaster and Scott Rolen has had far more effect than just his stats this year, but I doubt if you could prove the difference between years wasn't just luck. So, as I said, the happiness system gives me something other than just play ratings to think about, but there are a lot of other things I'd rather see Clay work on. But listing "Friends Of" seems important with the existing system.
