Can someone explain a stupid question to a guy that doesn't know thing 1 about football?

Usually when the offensive team has the ball and runs a play, the ball is held at the line and then hiked back to the quarterback, right? Is that a rule? Does the ball have to be at the line, or can the QB just start with the ball?

HAC has some Mich state play where the guy fakes a field goal or punt or something, and instead he pops up with the ball and completes a touchdown pass.

So are there different rules for different downs or something? Can you always have the ball 5 yards behind the line and its just never done or what? I'm not seeing the legality.

You can't see it because the animated GIF is of poor quality, but the ball is snapped back to the holder on the fake FG play. The ball always starts at the line and always has to be snapped to someone.

You can see the issues with the team when you listen to them talk about Moss vs the Caterer, the players say how they were embarressed, it was akward, there was silence in the room.......dudes....put your fork down, go tell Moss to shut up or get the f out. No leadership on that team at all starting with the coach right through the qback on down.
