    Also, how are you getting those kind of pitching stats from these clowns? Gallardo & Parra are the only starters I can get anything from without playing PBP player mode

    Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano was effectively wild, as he managed to strike out 9 batters in 7 innings while allowing just 2 hits and 1 run despite walking 7. The Cubs took a 2-1 lead in the 7th inning, but Prince Fielder led off the 8th inning with a home run to tie the game. In extras, Prince Fielder hit his 2nd home run of the game in the 10th to give the Brewers the lead. Cubs leadoff hitter Ryan Theriot singled to start the bottom of the 10th, was bunted to second base by Kosuke Fukudome and scored on a Marlon Byrd single to tie it back up. The Brewers answered immediately with a Casey McGehee home run and sacrifice fly by Ryan Braun. It was all for naught, however, as Manny Parra was called upon in the save situation since Trevor Hoffman had blown the save in the 10th, and promptly loaded the bases. LaTroy Hawkins was brought in to stop the bleeding and struck out the first batter. However, the next batter singled and then Ryan Theriot smashed a two-run walk-off double to secure the victory for the Cubs in this back-and-forth game.

    The Brewers scored twice in the first inning on an RBI triple off the bat of Ryan Braun and an RBI groundout by Prince Fielder. The Cubs answered with one run in their half of the first inning. The score remained that way until Marlon Byrd launched a two run home run in the bottom of the 5th. An insurance run was added in the 7th and Cubs closer Carlos Marmol would nail down the 4 out save.

    The Brewers struck early again on RBI double by Prince Fielder. The Cubs quickly took the lead, though, as Alfonso Soriano doubled in two runs in the bottom 1st. Derrek Lee singled him home. Lee would then add a home run in the fourth, along with Mike Fontenot. Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun homered in the 5th. The Cubs added another run in 7th. In the 8th inning, Corey Hart hit a two-run homer to bring Milwaukee within two runs. Craig Counsell, pinch hitting for the pitcher, laced a two-out inside-the-park home run to cut the lead to 1 in the top of the 9th. Rickie Weeks followed with a single but Cubs closer Marmol struck out Alcides Escobar to end the game.

    Rickie Weeks and Alcides Escobar led off the game with back-to-back singles and Weeks scored as Ryan Braun grounded into a double play. In the bottom half of the first, Ryan Zimmerman launched a three-run shot to put the Nationals on top. Brewers right fielder Corey Hart homered in the top of the 2nd, but Zimmerman followed up his first inning three-run homer with another in the bottom half of the inning. Milwaukee starter Pedro Martinez loaded the bases in the fourth inning with one out and was lifted for Todd Coffey. His second start did not go nearly as well as his strong first start in Milwaukee. Coffey got the next two batters out to prevent any runs from scoring. The Brewers scored once in the 6th inning on a Prince Fielder solo homer. Manny Parra, brought in during the bottom of the 6th, led off the 7th inning with a single. A wild pitch followed during Rickie Weeks' at bat and foreshadowed a walk. Alcides Escobar doubled, driving home Parra. Nationals starter Garrett Mock was lifted for Tyler Clippard who proceeded to let up a sacrifice fly to Ryan Braun. He struck out Fielder but allowed Corey Hart to double home Escobar and tie the game. Casey McGehee followed with a triple to give Milwaukee the lead. Nationals reliever Brian Bruney uncorked a wild pitch to allow McGehee to score a needed insurance run. Trevor Hoffman would earn the save despite allowing a run and loading the bases.

    The Nationals struck first as Adam Dunn hit a solo shot with two outs in the first inning. The Brewers tied it up in the fourth as Prince Fielder, Corey Hart and Gregg Zaun, the first three batters, all singled. Adam Heether, making the start at third base to give Casey McGehee a rest, followed with a double, driving in one. Starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo then broke the game open with a one-out, three-run homer. Ryan Braun led off the following inning with a homer to pad the score some more. Gallardo, who struggled with his command all day – walking 5 in 6 innings – gave up two runs in the bottom of the 5th and was lifted for a pinch hitter in the top of the 6th. Carlos Villanueva relieved him and allowed 2 runs in 1.1 innings of work, leaving the game with the score 6-5 in favor of the Brewers. Todd Coffey relieved him and gave up the lead by allowing a single to Jermaine Dye and then a homer to Eric Bruntlett. The Brewers weren’t able to put a run across off closer Matt Capps who notched the save.

Randy Wolf worked 6.2 shutout innings for his third consecutive quality start to begin the year. Trevor Hoffman worked a quick 1-2-3 ninth to nail down the game 2-0 and earn his fifth save.

    The Diamondbacks took two major hits as CF Chris Young went down for approximately a month with a shoulder injury and SS Stephen Drew went under the knife for hip surgery and is due to miss approximately 3 months. Drew Macias will start in center, while rookie Pedro Ciriaco will seize the starting shortstop job.

    Mets SP Oliver Perez will be out two weeks with a hairline fracture in his foot. 20 year old top prospect Jennry Mejia gets a chance to showcase his stuff in the big league rotation.

    Athletics closer Andrew Bailey will miss two weeks with a fracture in his non-throwing hand. The A's have announced that they will mix and match in the 9th while Bailey recovers.

    Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen will be out 2 weeks with a bruised back. Jonathan Van Every will start in his place.

    Braves lost rookie phenom right fielder Jason Heyward for a month to a strained ankle ligament. Alex Romero replaces him.

    Reds starter Homer Bailey is due to miss 3 weeks with bone chips in his knee. Matt Maloney replaces him in rotation for the time being.

    I'm glad too see that there is much more HGM in this dynasty than what was originally indicated.

    It was just a bit too tangy for my taste at the beginning.

    Fitting that these two would go out together. I always got them mixed up with each other. That made the year they both played in Kansas City together an odd one.

    Rickie Weeks led off the game with a single and moved himself to second with a stolen base. A groundout by Alcides Escobar moved him to third and he would score on a double by cleanup hitter Prince Fielder. The Pirates tied it up though in their half of the first on an RBI single by Steven Pearce. Fielder launched a massive home run in the third inning to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead. Steven Pearce, though, came through again in the bottom of the third and drove in two with a double to give the lead to Pittsburgh. The see-saw continued in the fourth as Carlos Gomez drove home Casey McGehee on a single to tie the game back up. The early control troubles of starter Doug Davis caught up with him in the fifth inning as he imploded and allowing five runs, including a grand slam to Pirates shortstop Ronny Cedeno. The Brewers couldn’t mount a comeback and lost to the Pirates 9-4.

    Jeff Clement put the Pirates on the board first with a solo home run in the first inning. Corey Hart tied it up in the second with his fifth home run of the young season. Both starters cruised through the 7th inning before being lifted for relievers. The game would remain tied at 1 and head into extra innings. In the top of the 11th, Pirates reliever Octavio Dotel walked Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder and then surrendered an RBI single to Casey McGehee, giving the Brewers the lead. George Kottaras drove home Fielder with a sacrifice fly to pad the lead. Trevor Hoffman walked a tightrope in the bottom of the 11th as he loaded the bases with 1 out, but got out of the jam and earned the save by inducing a double play ball from Andy LaRoche.

    With an off-day on Monday, the Brewers opted to skip Pedro Martinez’s turn in the rotation to give him a breather, so Yovani Gallardo took the hill. The Pirates struck first as Akinori Iwamura led off with a single and then advanced to third on two consecutive wild pitches by Gallardo. He scored on a groundout by Lastings Milledge. Garrett Jones then singled and stole second and was driven home on a double by Jeff Clement. The first three Brewer hitters in the top of the second reached base. Two runs scored to tie the game on a throwing error charged to second basemen Akinori Iwamura and the Brewers took the lead on an RBI infield single by Rickie Weeks. In the top of the sixth, Gallardo gave himself an insurance run by hitting a sacrifice fly. All told for Gallardo, he allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, striking out 7 but continued to struggle with his control as he walked 5. Trevor Hoffman blew the save by allowing 2 runs on a double to Ryan Doumit, sending the game to extras. As he did the night before, Octavio Dotel came in and struggled mightily, loading the bases before throwing a wild pitch to give Milwaukee the lead. Alcides Escobar, two batters later, broke the game wide up by lacing a triple with the bases loaded, making the score 8-4. Octavio Dotel has struggled immensely in his first month with the Pirates, allowing 12 runs in his first 8 innings. Mitch Stetter pitched the final inning as the Brewers improved to 9-6 on the season.

    Cubs catcher Geovany Soto, in his first game back from a two week DL stint, led off the 2nd inning with a home run to put the Cubs up 1-0. Rickie Weeks tied it up in the 3rd with a solo shot of his own. Alcides Escobar followed with a single, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Ryan Braun drove him in with a single. Randy Wolf helped his own cause in the fourth by hitting a double with two runners on. One run scored but Jody Gerut was thrown out trying to score from first, ending the inning. Ryan Braun homered in the 5th to give the Brewers runs in three consecutive innings. Randy Wolf went 8 strong innings, allowing just 1 run while striking out 6 and walking 2 for his fourth consecutive excellent start. An extra run was added in the 8th and Todd Coffey pitched a scoreless 9th to secure the victory.

    The Cubs put the first runs of the game on the board in the top of the third inning as Marlon Byrd hit a two-run home run. Prince Fielder led off the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run to cut the Cubs’ lead in half. Byrd would have none of it, though, as he struck right back with his second two-run shot of the day. A few batters later, Aramis Ramirez blew the game wide open with a three run home run. Brewers starter Doug Davis would leave after five innings as he got hammered in his second consecutive start. A few more runs would be scored by each team, but the deficit proved too large for the Brewers to overcome.

    Ryan Braun started the scoring in the first by doubling home Rickie Weeks. Dave Bush let the lead go in the second, though, as he walked Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez before serving up a three-run jack to second basemen Jeff Baker. The Cubs added a fourth run on a Marlon Byrd RBI double in the fifth inning. Brewers starter Dave Bush lasted 6 innings, allowing 4 runs, while putting up a horrible 1:5 K:BB ratio after having a 13:3 ratio in his first three starts. With two outs in the bottom of the 7th and Alcides Escobar on first base, Ryan Braun doubled to advance Escobar to third. The Cubs opted to intentionally walk Prince Fielder and face Corey Hart who doubled down the right field line, driving in two and making the score 4-3. The Cubs brought in reliever Blake Parker, making his MLB debut, and his first order was to, again, load the bases by putting Casey McGehee on. Gregg Zaun followed with a single that tied the game. In the top of the 8th, Jim Edmonds, who was brought in on a double switch a few innings earlier, led off with a home run to give the Brewers the lead. Trevor Hoffman was brought in to close the game and the first batter, pinch hitter Bobby Scales, launched a shot to center field and immediately hung his head. However, Jim Edmonds, giving a glimpse of his former self, raced back and leaped to snag the ball back from over the fence. Hoffman induced pop outs from the next two batters to secure the save.

    The Nationals lost big bopper 1B Adam Dunn for a month with strained knee. Minor league veteran Josh Whitesell replaces him at first.

    The Braves suffered two significant hits over the week. CF Nate McLouth is expected to be out for 2 months with a back injury. Melky Cabrera, acquired over the winter from the Yankees, will fill in for him. They also lost 2B Martin Prado for most of the remainder of the season with broken leg. He will be replaced by Omar Infante.

    Tigers C Gerald Laird will be out 2 weeks with a sprained ankle. Rather than recall prospect Alex Avila, the Tigers opted to go with a platoon of Eric Munson and Robinzon Diaz behind the plate while Laird iso ut.

    The Dodgers will do without SS Rafael Furcal for 2 weeks as he suffered a sprained back. Veteran utilityman Nick Green will serve as his replacement.

    DiamondbackS SP Ian Kennedy, off to a strong start in the NL, suffered a severe back injury and will miss most of the 2010 season. There's a possibility that he could return in September. Kris Benson replaces him in the rotation.

    Tigers rookie CF Austin Jackson, hitting .354 through the first 15 games of the season, will miss three months after undergoing wrist surgery. Fellow rookie Casper Wells takes over in center.

    Angels CF Torii Hunter will be out 3 weeks with a knee injury. Prospect Peter Bourjos was recalled to man center field in his absence.

    The Yankees will be without newly acquired CF Curtis Granderson for about 2 weeks with a neck injury. Randy Winn replaces him.

    The Pirates lost LF Lastings Milledge for 2 weeks with a back injury. Garrett Jones moves from right to left with Ryan Church taking over in right

    Angels SP Joe Saunders will be out 2 weeks with a finger fracture. Trevor Bell replaces him in the rotation.

    Chicago Tools Up For Playoff Run

    Ty Wigginton brings his hot bat back to the NL

    The Cubs, off to a 13-8 start in a tight division, have decided early to make a run for the playoffs. Their first order of business was to add a bat to the lineup. The Orioles, stuck in a division with the Yankees, Rays and Red Sox, became sellers early and shopped their designated hitter, Ty Wigginton. While Wigginton has played exclusively DH this year for Baltimore, he has experience all over the field and will primarily play second base for the Cubs. Wigginton, off to a .291/.356/.557 start with 5 HR and 15 RBI, will hope to keep his resurgent season rolling in the NL. The Orioles also unloaded the contract of Mark Hendrickson in this deal. Hendrickson, a long reliever, has been roughed up in his first 9 appearances this season, allowing 17 runs, 14 earned, in 13 innings.

    Cubs second basemen Mike Fontenot expressed understandable discontent with the move. Fontenot had been the strong side of a platoon with Jeff Baker at second for the Cubs and was off to a sizzling .328/.370/.507 start. Now, he'll be relegated to a utility role.

    In exchange for the two veterans, the Orioles added a package of young players. They received two prospects - 2B Ryan Flaherty and SP Dae-Eun Rhee. Flaherty, 23, was assigned to AA Bowie and shows decent pop and solid defense at the keystone. Rhee, 21, was off to a hot start in Rookie ball and will make his debut for the Orioles R affiliate, the Bluefield Orioles, in the coming days. The Orioles also added two major-league ready pieces in 1B/OF Micah Hoffpauir and RP Jeff Stevens. Hoffpauir, the oldest of the players Baltimore received at the age of 30, has shown a solid bat in 316 MLB at bats. He will immediately take over as the Orioles starting first basemen, as free agent signee Garrett Atkins has failed to prove that his struggles in 2009 were a fluke. Jeff Stevens is a 26 year old hard-throwing reliever with minimal MLB experience. He'll start off his Baltimore career at AAA Norfolk but should be first in line for a call up should the Orioles pen need reinforcements.

    After struggling through his first three starts of the season, young Rays pitcher David Price turned in a strong performance against the Toronto Blue Jays, allowing just 1 run in 7 innings on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 10. His next start, he turned it up a notch, as he completely dominated a baffled Royals lineup.

    Price, himself, was flawless, as he went this distance, striking out 8 batters without walking any. Two errors committed by Rays' fielders Evan Longoria and Sean Rodriguez, though, prevented the game from being considered perfect. Nevertheless, Price certainly showed what he is capable of as he became the first pitcher in Rays franchise history to throw a no-hitter. The no-hitter was the second of the 2010 season.

    The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 6th inning when Brewers second basemen Rickie Weeks hit a solo home run to right-center field. The extra few days of rest seem to do Pedro Martinez well, as he bounced back nicely from his previous shellacking, pitching 6 shutout innings while striking out 4 and walking one until allowing a leadoff homer to Ronny Cedeno in the 7th that tied the game. He stayed in to face the pitcher but was then lifted for Manny Parra. Ryan Braun quickly regained the lead for the Brewers as he led off the bottom of the 7th with a home run. Trevor Hoffman pitched a solid 9th for the save.

    The Brewers struck early with a two-run homer off the bat of Ryan Braun in the first. The Pirates scored twice in the fifth to tie the game at 2. Corey Hart broke that tie in the sixth with a solo homer. They Brewers added more with a two run shot by Prince Fielder. Mitch Stetter came in for the 8th against the lefty heavy Pittsburgh lineup. He loaded the bases and with one out, Jeff Clement tripled to tie the game at 5. Manny Parra served up a solo homer to Garrett Jones in the top of the 10th to give Pittsburgh the lead and eventually the win. Casey McGehee suffered a muscle strain during this game and is listed as day-to-day.

    The Brewers once again got on the board in the first with two runs on a series of hits. They added a few more runs over the next couple innings and knocked starter Paul Maholm out of the game early. Their bats continued to stay alive against the first reliever Pittsburgh brought in, Justin Thomas, making his season debut. By the end of the fourth inning, 10 runners had crossed home plate for Milwaukee. The 10 runs were more than enough for Randy Wolf as his superb start to the season continued. Wolf had a shutout going through 8 and a third innings, but gave up a single followed by a home run to Garrett Jones in the 9th. Todd Coffey relieved him and allowed a run of his own before getting the final out.

    Doug Davis’s control issues popped up early, as he walked two and a hit a batter in the first inning, allowing one run to score. The Padres tacked on another run in the fifth. Kevin Correia walked Rickie Weeks and Craig Counsell to start the sixth inning. A perfectly executed double steal put two runners in scoring position with no outs. Ryan Braun lofted a high flyball to left field to get Weeks in. Prince Fielder came to the plate next and was given an intentional pass. Corey Hart, the five hole hitter, laced a line drive single down the right field line to tie the game at 2. Alcides Escobar then came up a few batters later and doubled into the left field corner to give the Brewers a two run lead. In the ninth, Craig Counsell provided two insurance runs as he tripled with two runners on base and the Brewers held on easily for the win.

    A Chase Headley RBI single in the first put the Padres on the board first. Carlos Gomez led off the third for Milwaukee with a walk and Alcides Escobar followed with a triple to drive him in and tie the game. Escobar crossed the plate on a Rickie Weeks groundout to give Milwaukee the lead. Dave Bush loaded the bases with no outs in the 7th and Manny Parra came in to try and keep the score at 2-1. However, Parra let up a two-run single to Tony Gwynn and an RBI single to Chase Headley to give San Diego a two run lead, as he continues to frustrate manager Erik Smith with his inability to get out lefties. Heath Bell struck out the first two Brewers in the 9th before allowing a home run to pinch hitter Jody Gerut. He bounced back immediately, though, to induce a weak grounder to third from Rickie Weeks and polish off the save.

    Cardinals third basemen Allen Craig, himself an injury replacement for the previously injured David Freese, will be out for 2 weeks with a bruised hand. Ruben Gotay takes over at the hot corner for St. Louis
