Will Renteria reach 3000 hits?

only what, 25-30 have ever hit 3000? if he gets there, he should go into HOF. I doubt he'll get there. 3000 for me is a solid benchmark for entry.

Everyone that has reached 3,000 hits has incredible credentials outside of that. The weakest member is Lou Brock (who I would not put in my Hall of Fame), and Renteria is much worse than Brock.

I don't think there should be any one counting stat benchmark that should get a player into the Hall. They should be judged on their overall body of work.

so few have done it throughout the history of the game i'm not at issue with it. its a benchmark stat....yes i know you could find obscure stats that fewer have done but hits is a benchmark stat. I understand your point and in general I agree...but with hits, i'd put anyone who gets to 3K in.

BTW, even if Renteria doesn't make 3000 hits...i'd vote him into the HOF merely for being the final out!
