Outahere
Mariners GM 2023-2031
Orioles GM 2031-2044
Mets GM 2045-Present
I think that Jack Z has done a fantastic job in the last season since he took over the Mariners. He has improved the club quite a bit. The team was the first team with a 100 million dollar payroll to lose 100 games. He was also made some very popular moves for example bringing in Griffey Junior... I think that two great offseasons of work will not put him on any list of being the best GM in Baseball. I do think in 5 years down the road he will be one of the best GM's in Baseball.
Ready for Offseason rumors and trade talk!
Just for fun BBM10 roster:

Enjoy!
Just curious why Jack Zduriencik is getting credit despite such a short tenure and no major on field accomplishments? I was hesitant to go with Ruben Amaro because of his short tenure. I'm a big fan of the Twins front office, but Bill Smith has had a short tenure, little on field success...and oh he dealt Santana for arguably less than what he should've gotten.
I'm not a fan of this poll because its awful hard to gauge due to market size. Theo and Cashman surely are quickly dropped off many radars due to market size. Friedman surely gets extra points because of market size despite a relatively short tenure, and one highly successful season. I'm not saying he's not deserving, but put his accomplishments on a mid to large market and he's not getting the votes.
Hard to knock Friedman. I think he could be a bit more aggressive and try to trade some of their youth for a better talent to go for it this year. Has been there for 4 or 5 seasons and i'd speculate rather safely i think that at least half if not more of the talent there was drafted by the prior regime. I say that because they don't make a ton of trades so again its a speculation. Havent researched it. TB really needs to make the playoffs and maybe more as they are soon to be extinct in TB without a stadium deal.
The one I like is Dave Dombrowski. He's been in Det. for awhile and has done great things there taking over a horrific roster. He won two titles in Florida, another small market. They are the favorites in the Central this year and Det. is a smaller market in one of the most economically strifed areas of the country.
How does Friedman's accomplishments so outweigh Dombrowski's? I don't see it in anyway.
I voted Freidman but I can see Epstein also... Tho if Minny can resign Mauer... it goes to minny... I can understand why he(Santana) was sent to the Muts, to keep him out of the AL and thy didnt really expect to get NOTHING out of the garbage the mets sent over. Humber was supposed to be a #decent #2 or a very good #3, Gomez was supposed to be an ok player, not a star but an ok player, the other's I didnt know.
Dickay I think the reason they dont give Dombrowski that much credit is because they signed guys to big contracts that didnt always pan out... where guys like Epstein had flopps, like Penny, Smoltz, Corra, (was he there for Edgar Rentaria) most were relativly low inpact. Smoltz cost little, Penny cost little, Cora was a BIG hit and Edgar was a hit but brought them Riske in the end.
He has done MORE then he has hurt. He goit Arroyo of the waiver wire, signed to a cheap deal and foolishly traded away for willy mo
Dombrowski seamed to have bigger mistakes... Dontrel Willis, Edgar Rentaria, Kyle Farnsworth, etc. The other 2 GM's I mentioned had oops's but not as big

Farnsworth was a bad move too... way to much $$$
Mags was a hirrible deal as well... everyone new it when it was signed WAY to long a deal... and then not cutting him last year 1/2 way thru the season... thet could really hurt them this year unless he rebounds from about 2-3 years ago
