granderson to me is a utility player. too much of a liability against LHP. but that may truly be my biased red sox hat. i've never been much a fan of his.
They could conceivably go with Gardner against lefties, who is pretty decent with the bat against lefties has more speed and is pretty good in the field if not better although we don't have a huge sampling. I've read some negative things about Granderson regarding ability to read the ball off the bat and take good routes to the ball.
Randy Winn was terrible against LHP as well last year, but i believe he's been better throughout his career and is a switch hitter. if one wants to give their team the best chance to win, Granderson is terrible against lefties...the smart move may be to go with Winn and Gardner.
of course they won't do that...but it may be a smarter play.
Gardner's already the every day left fielder, assuming things stay the same. And Granderson > Winn in center, lefty or not on the mound. I'd only sit Granderson against tough lefties.

I understand that there's a large contingency of people who believe that we should not presume intelligence until success has been displayed on the field, and that we should infer that an organization is well run once the fruits of their labor of have been reaped, and those are the people who are going to hate this ranking. I simply have a philosophical disagreement with you on how we should evaluate our expectations for the future. Just as we can separate Jason Heyward from a normal outfield prospect despite the fact that he has accomplished nothing at the big league level, I believe we can also evaluate an organization's ability to put a winning team on the field before they do so.
People concentrate way too much on Granderson's struggles against lefties. He does so many other things well.
