Beautiful find. This is up there with that map of the continental US by baseball fandom, and the Mets 2009 injury by color chart.

The ivy was planted in 1937 by the Cubs General Manager Bill Veeck, to try and add some padding to the then brand new brick outfield wall.

Also note that the Indians split home games between League Park and Cleveland Memorial Stadium for several years (basically night and weekend games in Memorial, weekday daytime games in League Park).

Overall, it looks reasonably accurate, but it shows the area of southern West Virginia where I grew up as Indians territory, and that's just completely wrong. Back before I was in high school, it was basically on the border between the Reds and the Pirates, but later on the Braves gained a lot of fans in the area (mainly because of Braves games on WTBS). At any rate, there were very few Indians fans around.

And there's no way that the Nationals have that much territory. I live in eastern North Carolina now, and I don't think I've seen a single person wearing a Nationals cap. I'd say that most of the coastal Carolina would probably be best shown as unincorporated territory, like wide areas of the west.

Where I live, it is a mix of Giants/A's. Though personally, I don't like either team one bit. In fact, baseball is probably the only sport where I'm not a die-hard fan of any one team.

The Rockies are way more into Western Kansas. If you go far enough west you can actually get the Rockies games on the radio while in Kansas
