2nd round - SP Marty McLeary (49/94) With a couple of years in the minors he could be the ace of the pitching staff but that seems like a long way from now.

    Yankees sign 3 today.

The Yankees agreed to sign SS Jay Bell (81) to a 2 year deal worth 1.61M. He is considered to be a stopgap for one of the most anticipated prospects in Yankees history (Derek Jeter).

They also agreed in principle to sign SP Tim Belcher (85) to a 3 year 1.7M deal. He will be inserted in the rotation and besides Andy Pettite their team needs all of the starting pitching they can get.

Finally, they agreed to sign RP Tom Edens (82/83) to a 2 year contract worth 480K. He will be inserted into the bullpen at a spot later to be determined.

(Tom Edens signing didn't have a newspaper article)
