3 billion people are watching this I can't not watch it. What kind of Canadian would I be then?

So I went out tonight and missed the first 2 hours of it. Frankly, I'm not bothered. I've watched 5 minutes of it and now I'm going to listen to music instead.

The actual events are what I want to see.

Ok. Took it off mute because you can never go wrong with fiddling. (Although the big tattooed guys in kilts is a bit weird)

I actually liked that sequence with the tap stuff and the fiddlers...was a lot better than I would have imagined.

Oh, and on behalf of Canada, we don't know what the **** was up with Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams singing possibly the most hackneyed piece of **** song ever, either. Don't blame us, blame the IOC!

Loved: Most of the effects were spectacular particularly the whales, k.d. lang was brilliant doing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" (but always is with that song), the fiddlers were fun (great to see Ashley MacIsaac back), the standing O for the Georgia athletes, and I marveled at the incredible endurance of the First Nations people. Is there anything more frickin' Canadian than Wayne Gretzky riding in the bed of a pick up truck, torch in hand, on his way to light the outdoor cauldron? Nancy Greene might have been a better choice here, but Gretzky's 1-A.

Meh: Bryan Adams and Nelly Furtado (summed up best by Arctic Blast above), Sara MacLachlan, the huge haired opera singer, the "slam poem" from the hoser with the huge neck beard (Shane Koyczan), and the whole skiing, skating, snowboarding thing.

Hated: Oh Canada by Nikki Yanofsky. If you're going to do the anthem, do the fu(king anthem, not your interpretation of it. Explore your artistic side with your own material or cover songs, not the national anthem. The speeches by Furlong and Rogge dragged on and on and on. I know they're necessary, but ugh. Indoor Olympic Cauldron - FAIL.

I didn't see the slam poet but my friend told me that he was very arrogant.

He has a neck beard, what else would you expect?

While Snowboarding for Team USA (sponsored by Visa & Nike); Nate Holland blast fellow snowboarders for belying the "anti-establishment integrity" by refusing to conform to his standards and wearing tight pants ?

I'm excited for curling because me and some friends are going to go on Skype and make fun of it when it's on.

I like watching curling. Idk why. I'll only watch it during the olympics. If there was a curling league, I wouldn't tune in.
