    Greatest Outfield Arms

According to Prime 9 of all time

    reputation carrying....not really statistical based.

You can't base it on assists, mainly because people stop running on them.

Someone want to bring out sabr numbers to help?

    9. Vlad
    8. Larry Walker (apparently baited guys a lot)
    7. Ellis Valentine
    6. Dwight Evans
    5. Carl Furillo
    4. Jose Guillen
    3. Ichiro
    2. J. Barfield
    1. R. Clemente

what I found as OF arm ratings (for a career, so it's sort of a counting stat)
    Vlad 33
    L. Walker 55
    E. Valentine 37 (78 was ridiculous)
    D. Evans 53
Furillo 10 (not really complete, played before the stat was fully used)
    J. Guillen -1
    Ichiro 34
    Barfield 67
    R. Clemente 83

There was a pretty good study on OF kills & stopping runners from advancing in trying to rank the best arms, but it was just for 2008, I believe.

Ichiro's arm looks to have gotten worse as he's gotten older, but a lot of that was from reputation and runners rarely running on him. As such, we'd still count preventing runners as part of defense, but it's extremely tough to point out how many runners were deterred by Ichiro's reputation.

The best center field arm in 2008, on a per-opportunity basis, belongs to 23-year-old Matt Kemp who patrols the middle garden at Chavez Ravine. Here's how Kemp did it:

I'm Jeffy, I never ask for anything. I'd rather work for it myself.

Yeah, that's little bit annoying. It'd be nice if you could specify instead of having it assume. But it forces at lære mig Dansk.

If you appreciate it it takes half of the fun out of it.

where is bo jackson? greatest arm ive seen.

    http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Bo_Jackson

Though certainly Bo was known as a power hitter, he is probably best remembered in Kansas City for his arm strength and subsequent ability to throw out a runner at the plate, from the warning track.

Outfield arm, career rated a '7' in terms of the stats placed earlier.

    Re: Greatest Outfield Arms

curious jeffy how they rate these? total assists is a horrid way, as great arms aren't run on as much so the chances may be limited. Also dependant upon the position one played in the OF the chances also might be limited. I don't see a good way of measuring this, just subjectivity.
