The criticism wasn't specifically regarding signing Tatis. Rather, it was a criticism of the entire process that included a plan to enter the season with a Murphy/Tatis platoon while wasting resources on Gary Matthews Jr. that could've been spent on a better first basemen.
It's funny because even the comments are telling him he's wrong. Not even any love on your own site. At least he has MG, though.
And no, unlike what the original article stated, Ryan Garko is absolutely not the solution at first base.
FYI also, it's going to be mostly Murphy at first base if I understand correctly. Tatis was signed because he can play 6 positions decently and can hit respectably.

He's played like 5 games each at 2B and SS, and is an average at best corner man and is 35 years old. He can't play 2B and SS decently unless decently means "can stand in the field at that position for a couple of innings if absolutely needed" in which case Adam Dunn is a decent fielder.
OH MY GOD.... when I stress hitting over defense, nope wrong... when I stress defense over hitting, nope still wrong... stop contradicting me just for your own sake
Jason Bay, Carlos Beltran, David Wright, Jose ReyesUh, yeah.lol
Metsguy234 (11:07:18 AM): if I told you "Why the **** did the Mets sign Fernando Tatis, he sucks" you'd be defending himGood for him. He's still not good.
straightoutofhxc (11:07:26 AM): because that would be retarded too.
If this **** continues, I'm leaving. I can say "the sky is blue" and you'll find a reason to contradict me.
