    2022 Minnesota Twins Top Prospects

    5 - Martin Cavell
Position: SP Age: 23 Drafted: Columbus (HS), GA, 2017 (2nd Round - 35th Overall), Twins ETA: 2022
He had a decent showing last September, but with the off-season acquisitions it's likely he'll be headed back to Triple-A. Whether it be a rotation or bullpen injury he's likely to be the first pitcher called up. His skills are average across the board, but the Twins like the fact that he's been a low home run pitcher in the minors.

    4 - Derek Ward
Position: SP Age: 20 Drafted: Brooklyn (Xaverian HS), NY, 2021 (1st Round - 4th Overall), Twins ETA: 2023
Though he moves down a slot from last year, it has more to do with other prospects booming rather than Ward falling off the charts. He's still a strong prospect, as evidenced by his improved grade. With Minnesota's thin pitching depth, he's definitely on the radar to be called up at some point during this season.

    3 - Cristian Garcia
Position: RP Age: 20 Drafted: Panama City, Panama, 2021 (3rd Round - 52nd Overall), Twins ETA: 2026
What a difference a year makes. Though he did struggle during his second tour of rookie ball, the Twins saw enough to give him a late season promotion to Single-A Ft. Myers where he turned in a solid six games. He still has a long way to go, but he's starting to polish his raw skills we saw on draft day.

    2 - Mike Schultz
Position: CF Age: 22 Drafted: Tulane University, 2021 (1st Round - 13th Overall), Orioles ETA: 2025
He didn't do a lot to sway the doubters last season as he eventually needed to be sent back to the short-season league to restore his confidence. Scouts still feel he has the potential, but the Twins management are starting to grow tired of waiting for him to turn his potential in to results.

    1 - Gary West
Position: RF Age: 18 Drafted: Indianapolis (Franklin Central HS), IN, 2022 (1st Round - 2nd Overall), Twins ETA: 2027
Last year's top pick makes his debut at #1 on the Twins prospect list. He had a solid season in R-Ball Elizabethton with a slash line of .270/.375/.421. The Twins are excited to see what he can do with a full 140 game schedule. He has the potential to be an exceptional player.

...Here's how the entire minor leagues stack up...
