Sorry for the random question, but just out of curiosity what city do the Skyhawks play in?

Re: Building Blocks: Minnesota Twins (Mogul 2k6)

I'll break here to answer the questions about the draftees. First, it was sort of more for article purposes than really asking my audience as to who I should take, but it can lend some insight on the situation.

I don't like posting screenshots of a guy I may never draft, it just seems like busy work to me. But here's what I'll do, I'll describe a player's skill with a scouting report using the chart below. The chart will be set as what they are right now. "Average Power" would mean they're around 75. I may not go over each skill, but I'll touch on what I feel is important to give an educated opinion. I still may use words such as "nice" or "plus" when talking about potential and for you guys to be able to discern them I'll say if I'm using those words I project them to end up in the mid 80's or better.

    Code:
Skills	Cnt, Pwr, Eye	Spd Def End Ctl, Mov, Pwr
95	Elite Elite Elite Elite Elite
90	Great Great Great Great Great
85	Well Above	Well Above	Well Above	Well Above	Well Above
80	Above Above Above Above Above
75	Average Slightly Above	Average Slightly Above	Average
70	Below Average Below Average Below
65	Well Below	Slightly Below	Well Below	Slightly Below	Well Below
60	Poor Below Poor Below Poor
55	Very Poor	Well Below	Very Poor	Well Below	Very Poor
    50 Poor Well Below
    45 Very Poor Poor
    40 Poor
    35 Very Poor
    30 Very Poor
    25 Reliever
    20 Reliever
So, I hope this makes sense. I'll go back and edit the above post to give a scouting report on the five players I profiled. Give me a few minutes. And to answer another question...

etothep: The Skyhawks are from Charlotte. The Florida Marlins are the original team.

    FYI: Scouting Reports are up!

    2022 Minnesota Twins Draft Review

1st Round: Pick #2: RF Gary West, Indianapolis, IN

There were some prospects that had a bit better potential than West, but we felt none were as well-rounded as West. He comes in having enormous power and plate discipline potential. It's true his contact and fielding a bit below average, but we feel he has the time to work on those things. His .455 average as a senior is very encouraging for his ability to hit for an average to improve.

2nd Round: Pick #26: RP Matthew Hacker, Dennison, OH

We usually don't like to take true relievers this high, but his talent is too intriguing to pass up. Even if he never gets better he'll rack up K's, that's for sure. At this point he only features a Cutter and a Two Seamer. We'll have to work on him developing a secondary pitch or eventually hitters will learn to catch up to his heat. Ironically, his name fits his game as he'll be leaving a lot of batters hacking at plate with nothing to show.

3rd Round: Pick #50: 2B John Hershey, Miami, FL

For the second straight year we take a guy who is quite raw, but has loads of potential in the third round. With his athleticism he'll eventually learn the ropes in the field. His overall approach at the plate is subpar right now, but we feel he'll become an adequate, plus hitter.

4th Round: Pick #74: SS Thad Sloboda, Philadelphia, PA

We were actually juggling between taking Sloboda or Hershey in the third round, so we were very surprised to find Sloboda still available in the fourth round. He's pretty much a carbon copy of Hershey. He doesn't quite have the upside that Hersey brings to the table, but his defense is much more polished.

5th Round: Pick #98: SP Bob Ramus, Springfield, MA

We took him purely on being one of the highest potential players left on the board. While his control and movement are currently below average, he does feature a pretty nice fastball. The big question is, "starter or reliever?"

6th Round: Pick #122: SP Dustan Mareth, Mt. Carmel, IL

We're very pleased with this pick. We get the sense of that he's like last year's draft pick, Josh Murphey. His arm is versatile enough for the rotation or the bullpen. He features some nice power with average control. The big work will be improving his curveball and adding, something most high schoolers don't have, a changeup.

This was another very successful draft. We aren't too sure how long in the future we'll have Noah Turmell. West can play all three spots and could be just the prospect we need. Some questions have risen about Phil Harwood's work ethic, so picking up a couple more middle infield prospects isn't a bad idea. To top it all off the Twins likely found their future closer. Grade = "A+"!!!

    Twins Pick Up Jamieson
By Trent Cameron [January 24, 2022 at 3:10pm CST]

    • The Star Tribune's Joe Christensen reports that the Twins have acquired reliever Byron Jamieson from the Pilots. Jamieson brings above average control with only average movement, but a knack for getting a solid number of strikeouts. Jamieson has spent the last three seasons in Triple-A and just didn't appear to be on track to get into Portland in a big role anytime soon.

The Twins dealt Eric Filler, as expected, along with prospect third baseman Lucas Stevens and cash considerations (believed to be $1-2M). Filler will give the Pilots an upgrade at DH while Stevens will provide depth in the system.

    • MLB.com's Kelly Thesier takes a look at who could be a suitor for Ben Trollo. Trollo hasn't had any success in Minnesota and could be looking for a fresh start. She offers up the Angels, Pirates, and Aces are the best fits for Trollo to instantly win a long relief job.

    PILOTS TRADE RECAP

    -------------------------

Editor's Note On Trade Fairness: As per the trade block approval thread said, the initial offer of Filler and Stevens for Southwell wasn't quite fair enough. I changed the offer around to get a reliever who is slightly better, but has a lot less potential. I felt this time seeking approval wasn't needed as I wasn't getting such a high potential/caliber player.

    Trollo Dealt To Cincinnati
By Trent Cameron [February 28, 2022 at 5:12pm CST]

    • MLB Network's Gavin Nokes goes over the thought process behind dealing away Ben Trollo. While still very young, Trollo didn't have much of a future in Minnesota. A fresh start bodes well for him. Like last year's trade with the Reds, Cincinnati is still low on pitchers. They only have 13 total arms in the entire system and Trollo should easily win a bullpen spot this spring. As for the Twins, they don't have any catchers in the minor leagues. Picking up Eric Dickson can help fill a lack of depth in the minors and hopefully one deal, have a backup catcher on their hands.

    REDS TRADE RECAP

    -------------------------

Editor's Note On Trade Fairness: As stated, the Reds direly lack pitching depth and Trollo can instantly make the team. The catcher looks to be a solid future reserve guy, but they have other backup type catchers in the system. Piro is simply a throw-in who I don't need.

    2022 Minnesota Twins Top Prospects

    5 - Byron Jamieson
Position: RP Age: 24 Drafted: Clinton (HS), OK, 2017 (2nd Round - 45th Overall), Cubs ETA: 2022
Freshly acquired from Portland, Jamieson has waited patiently for his call to the big leagues. He was called up late last season, but didn't appear in any games. Look for Jamieson to open as a rare rookie closer for the Twins in 2022.

    4 - Mike Schultz
Position: CF Age: 21 Drafted: Tulane University, 2021 (1st Round - 13th Overall), Orioles ETA: 2025
Schultz surely has some doubters about his skills, but even with his poor showing last season, most scouts agree that he still has some nice potential. He's a great athlete who just needs to fine tune his skills and he'll be major league material.

    3 - Derek Ward
Position: SP Age: 19 Drafted: Brooklyn (Xaverian HS), NY, 2021 (1st Round - 4th Overall), Twins ETA: 2023
Ward impressed right off the bat and made it all the way up to Double-A last season. Some feel he's major league quality right now, but the Twins won't push it. He'll likely have to wait until 2023 before his sees any major league action.

    2 - Steve Richey
    Position: 3B Age: 21 Drafted: Glendale (HS), CA, 2019 (1st Round - 1st Overall), Twins ETA: 2021
Richey draws a lot of buzz and probably has the chance to become better than the guy slotted at number one. He's great defensively and shows power and plate discipline above the average for his age. He may have a rough rookie season, but the future is very bright.

    1 - Aaron Weaver
    Position: C Age: 25 Drafted: Vanderbilt Universality, 2018 (1st Round - 3rd Overall), Twins ETA: 2021
Not to worry Aaron Weaver. All you have to do is essentially replace Joe Mauer. The expectations are big, but so is Weaver's talent. He's much better than Mauer was defensively and while Weaver may not be the contact/on-base guy that Mauer was, Weaver shows much better power.

...Here's how the entire minor leagues stack up...

After a drought of nearly 8 months I've decided to start this back up. I left off right before spring training, however I'm going to skip the spring training articles and jump right into the season previews and subsequently, the 2022 regular season.

    • RF James Norris is getting off to a fine start with a .892 OPS

    • 1B Chris McNees is pulverizing the ball, hitting 10 homers through his first 28 games

    • 3,000 Hit Watch: Joe Mauer is now 23 hits away from that magical number

    • 3B Steve Richey isn't hitting for much power, but got off to a fine start with a .275 AVG and .356 OBP

    • Starters Joe Drew and Chris Cook are both getting off to fine starts of the season with sub-3.00 ERAs during their first 6 games

    • RP Tim Raymond has gotten knocked around, allowing 10 hits in 7 innings

    • Prospect Mike Schultz is still struggling in A-ball and it looks like a trip to Rookie Ball is needed to straighten him out
