    Field your best team

Okay, tough spot with tough questions.

you have to fill a team of 30 men, with 25 being on your 25 man roster.

You have to pick one player per major league team, and fill the best possible roster that you can.

For example, if you pick Albert, you can't have any other Cardinals. If you pick Mauer, no other Twins, etc...and you need one player per team.

and fill out the roster as such.

Catcher - Joe Mauer - Twins
    Back up Catcher

    Starting
First Base - Albert Pujols - Cardinals
Second Base - Chase Utley - Phillies
    Third Base - A-Rod - Yankees
    Shortstop etc etc etc
    Left Field
    Center Field
    Right Field

    Rotation
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.

    Closer

and you can fill in the last remaining spots. with your five additional players, you can either have prospects, or you can have 5 additional bench players...and state the team when you state the player.

I needed more relievers and don't think Verlander would be as good out of the bullpen. I just plain don't think Porcello is that good.

    Other notes-
-I picked Tommy Hanson in favor of Jason Heyward and Brian McCann.
-Since there was no McCann on the team, that made me choice backup catcher as Wieters over fellow Orioles Adam Jones and Brian Roberts.
-Missing out on Roberts, I picked 2B Delwyn Young over Andrew McCuthen since there was literally no else any good on the Pirates.
-I couldn't pass up Pujols, even if it meant leaving Wainwright off the team.
-I coulda gone with Jokiam Soria, but decided on Greinke instead.
-I really wanted Chone Figgins, but he's with the M's now, and I couldn't pass on Felix.
-I haven't seen enough of Wade Davis to pick him, plus I liked Price in the bullpen in '08 playoffs...so he earned the TB nod.

    love it.

It causes quite the ripple effect when picking the team.

    Re: Field your best team

Hill has to be starting 2B so that Halladay can get into rotation. Despite Papelbons struggles last year, he's as consistent a closer out there not named Rivera so I think he has to be the closer and is the smartest Red Sox pick.

    Starting

Catcher - Joe Mauer - Twins
First Base - Albert Pujols - Cardinals
Second Base - Aaron Hill - Blue Jays
Third Base - Evan Longoria - Rays
Shortstop - Hanley Ramerez - Marlins
Left Field - Ryan Braun - Brewers
Center Field - Matt Kemp - Dodgers
Right Field - Justin Upton - DBacks

    Rotation
    1. Tim Linceucum - Giants
    2. Roy Halladay - Phillies
    3. Felix Hernandez - Mariners
    4. Zach Grenkie - Royals
    5. CC Sabathia - Yankees

    Closer
    1. Jonathan Papelbon - Red Sox
    RP1. Neftali Feliz - Texas
    RP2. Carlos Marmol - Cubs
    RP3. Ervin Santana - Angels
    RP4. K-Rod - Mets
    RP5. Andrew Bailey - Oakland

    Bench
    Troy Tulo SS - Rockies
    Adrian Gonzalez 1B - Padres
    Miggy Cabrera 3B - Tigers
    Hunter Pence OF - Astros
    Grady Sizemore OF - Indians

    5 More
    Gordon Beckham - White Sox
    Jered Weaver - Angels
    Andrew McCutchen OF - Pirates
    Steven Strasburg - Nats
    Matt Wieter C - O's

I think the gap between Utley and whoever the next best second basemen is is larger than the gap between Halladay and the rest of the top tier pitchers.

well...i think halladay over your lester pick is much more significant upgrade than utley over hill. though admittedly thats assuming hill has a 2010 closer to his 09 performance than his 08.
