well keep in mind the rules state

the salaries of comparable players in the player’s service-time class and, for players with less than five years of service, the class one year ahead of him.
meaning when deciding his salary you can't compare him to say Sabathia, Halladya or even Hernandez..

the only pitchers I can find who have contarcts would be Jon Lester and Josh Johnson, Lester signed a 5/30m and Johnson a 4/39 Mil.

The Lester deal made it the Giants offer at least semi-plausble, but I think the Johnson Deal hurts them, though that was after arb figures were presented I believe.

I think the offer was intentionally low by the Giants in order to make them worry about the possibility of of Linc getting a low salary, and give him incentive to sign a deal.

You do realize that neither Lester nor Johnson have 2 Cy Young awards and are consistently amongst the best pitchers in the game, right? I don't see arbitrators ruling in favor of the Giants, considering what Ryan Howard got in 2008. Lincecum has done more than either of the comparable pitchers, as well as the previous arbitration results.

    Actually, they might could:

As Yahoo Sports first reported earlier in the week, the Lincecum camp could use a "special accomplishments" clause in the Basic Agreement that could supersede the normal process of comparing players to others with similar service time. Instead, Lincecum could be compared to the highest-paid starters in the game, such as CC Sabathia ($23 million) and Barry Zito ($18 million). That clause came into play in Howard negotiations in his first year of eligibility, which came after Howard won the NL MVP Award in his second season.

    Hehehe.

It should be more like Halladay, Sabathia, and Santana.

Lester and Johnson are both pretty effin' good. Not as good as Lincecum, but still, they're right up there in terms of top young pitchers in the game. Regardless, I see no way that the Giants win this arbitration case. Seems pretty open and shut to me.

really? I am surprised he would accept that little honestly.

I figured at least 13 mil a year would be what he would expect, and that he would want to get somewhere near what Verlander and King Felix got in his next contract.

It's a good deal for the Giants that's for sure.
