    I'd use a pitcher like Don Sutton or Nolan Ryan to describe the "compilers", not Pete Rose. Rose left that image as he hung on to break the hits record, but I'd put him in the HoF even if he retired after 1979 - he'd actually GAIN 0.6 WAR had he done that (and be at 76 rather than 75.4).

    True dat and I thought about this after I wrote it and shut down the computer. Sorry - tired. Guess we're back to Winfield huh?
