That's what I thought you meant but wanted to make sure.
I find it odd that there are people that say it rather than spell it out.I've read some people state that they say it like you do, but I don't think I've ever actually heard it pronounced anyway besides spelled out.
oddly Ive always pronounces thie "wear", not sure why.WAR - said like a really big fight
FIP - rhymes with hip.- Agree
wOBA - woah-buh
SLG - "slugging percentage"
BABIP - bab-ip
WHIP - pronounced like Indy's weapon
WAR - said like a really big fight
E-R-A - yep
O-B-P - yep
O-P-S - yep
U-Z-R - yep
W-P-A - yep

Now that I think about it, there are few that I actually spell out in my head. ERA is one. But on-base percentage, zone rating (dropping the ultimate tag) and win probability added I would say in words, not letters, and I use the words not the letters in my head. Same with batting average on balls in play.
This one, I actually say (again, in my head) like:
waaaar
like the band GWAR, just without the G.
So instead of War and Peace, more like waaaahr.
That makes sense to me, because War is really pronounced like 'WOR'. The small, lonely a should just be a quick 'ah' sound, not an 'uh' or 'oh' sound.
