its hit or miss opening day...IMHO you can't go to a minor league ball game in very cold weather lol. I see people every year in winter gear going to opening day. I recommend the first Friday game...as thats when they will have their firework show. It may still be a bit cold, but minor league game + fireworks is acceptable to go to in cold weather lol.

Its one of the better minor league parks i've been to. They do alot for the fans, they have a childrens play area (although that may not be up your alley lol), a roof top BBQ, seats are all great/close/ and pretty comfortable.

If you go to the firework show...lemme know. i'll buy you a beer.
The 1st friday no... but if I recall its every fridy right? we will DEF have to catch up at a game

I am going with my G/F and if my buddy at work can go to it, he is going too

Ever been to the Bluefish? I like their stadium a lot. They ahve "bluefish bucks" which are like cash but if like $9 for $10 in blufish cash. Kinda cool to get your food and booze at 10% off
I have seen a bunch pro's play there, like Tony Womack, Edgardo Alfonzo, I THINK TJ Beam, and I saw Adam Greenberg who has a cool story, tho kind of scary

they used to do the fireworks every friday until they got too many local residents up in arms. Really BS if you ask me. Now they only do it first friday of the month. Whats worse is, if they can't start the fireworks by 9:30PM they aren't allowed to do them at all. Early in the season its not much of a problem as they start the games earlier I assume to take advantage of warmer weather?? Later in the season they push the start time back a half hour to an hour and i've been to a few games that didn't finish in time. Its funny late in the game as that 9:30 mark approaches to see the fans booing the home team when they string hits together lol or make pitching changes.

No i've never seen the bluefish.

I get to 1 met game a year at shea/citi. Sometimes the mets are in philly when we go on vacation and since we are close to philly we go to the game. We didn't do that in 2009 though

Around 5-8 home games a year plus I usually try to make it to a game at Chicago or Kansas City, I also try to catch a game at Memphis if time allows it

    Northern League represent!!

I've been to about 6 Twins games ($11 outfield porch seats were awesome at the Metrodome...I caught a home run ball during BP) and a Royals series over the past 15 years on family vacations.

At my first game ever, both Kirby Puckett and Frank Thomas hit home runs.

    I've seen:
    White Sox @ Twins
    Mariners @ Royals x2
    Braves @ Twins x3
Athletics @ Twins (Santana vs. Zito groundball out snoozefest)

I only go to games if I go on vacation to a place where there is a team. I go to a ton of golden baseball league games though.(Calgary has a team, tickets are dirt cheap)

I usually go to a few hockey games a year, maybe a CFL game or two.

I go between 2-3 games a year, when I was young, my family would go to upwards of 40 games per season, about half of a full season package for 4-5 people.

Back then thou, the Kingdome was empty, and you could get box seats for $25 bucks.

Re: Who actually goes to games?

Only been hitting about one Red Sox game a year. It's not like it was, say, fifteen years ago, when you could pick your day and seating section at Fenway, and have a good chance of getting tickets. It's ridiculous now. I don't even bother hunting for tickets there, anymore. I have a co-worker who has a contact, and he offers up tickets on the right field roof a couple times a year. I'll usually grab those up, when presented with the opportunity.

Otherwise, past couple of years, my brother-in-law and I have made it our summer project to hit the A, AA, and AAA Red Sox affiliates in this area at least once each. We're fortunate enough to have the PawSox, Sea Dogs, and Spinners within road-trip distance from here. We've hit the AA Jays affiliate Fisher Cats a few times, too. And Jimmy Fallon's Can-Am League team the Rox aren't too far away, in Brockton, Mass. Been there once. My fire brothers at the fire station immediately adjacent to the stadium let us park in their yard, no problem. (Thanks, guys!)

If you're bringing youngsters, you can't beat the minor league ball experience. Tickets are cheap, parking is a lot easier, and there's always plenty of stuff besides the ball-game going on to keep the little ones interested.
