    Fans favor playoffs over BCS

    Really??!!

    Imagine that!

The only thing surprising about this story, to me, is the fact that they found that 26% of folks were actually OK with it as it is.

Those 26 percent were probably the Presidents of the Big Ten and Pac-10 and the NCAA officials, their families and closest friends, and players that were given special incentive if they said they prefer the bowl system.

Eventually, it is going to happen...most of the people who want to stick with the bowl system as it stands now are the older generations of fans. As the younger fans (the ones predominantly wanting a playoff system) become a bigger piece of the audience, eventually the NCAA is going to have to either change to a playoff system, or lose a ton of money.

does a playoff system really make it better though? i'm not sold. someone is always left out. how do you propose doing it?

i personally don't follow college football all that closely, but this whole argument sounds like fixing something that isn't really broken.

Well it's not broken in that it makes hundreds of millions of dollars for the NCAA. Financially, it's the best post season system ever.

But if you have, say, 16 teams. Instead of 2. You won't be leaving out 3 undefeated teams like they are this year.

Sure, someone will be left out, but it's more fair then the current system.

I figure that most of the people who want to stick with the BCS are people who figure that that if we don't have the BCS, we're still not getting a playoff, and that we'd go back to having the #1 ranked team playing an unranked 6-5 team in a bowl game while the #2 team played a team ranked 12th or so in another bowl. Yuck.
