The majority of fans "believe it" but that doesn't make it so. There is a nation wide bias against the New England Patriots. Fans can't stand the organization for whatever reason. So, this, imo, is a conspiracy theory. And one with very little hard evidence.

So maybe you could say that NE or even more specifically Brady has earned the benefit of the doubt. Whatever it is the refs in the past (especially in the 16-0 season) have favored NE.
Fans dont account for hard evidence. If there was any truth to what you are saying, there would be no way the NFL can keep that under raps with all the sources available. Players especially would have said something if that were the case.

I start this thread the same week that Welker suffers a career-threatening injury. Perhaps we should call this 'THE DRESLOUGH CURSE'. Hmm.

    Who should I injure next?

Players won't say it publicly(fines).A lot of Ex- players have commented on it. NFL Commentators have said it. Jimmie Johnson has said it. Michael Strahan even made a speech about it on the fox pregame show. Just google it see all the blogs, newspaper articles, commentary, etc, etc. The NFL has even changed the rules just because Brady got hurt( Carson Palmer and countless other QB's weren't important enough when they got hurt the same way) . It's not under wraps everyone knows about it. Like I said its been happening in every major sport forever. Are you going to deny that MJ didn't get alot more leeway than say Brad Lohaus?? Of course he did he was MJ. Everybody knew that. Jordan was going to get the calls. Do you think any ref would dare call the push-off after Jordan hit the game winner in game 6?? It's the same thing with Brady. I'll give him that has earned it, but please don't tell me it doesn't exist.

First, you need to distinguish between the league and individual referees. The league made a rule change that didn't benefit the Patriots more than anyone else. It was made after Brady was hurt, but it didn't actually help them.

And referees in all sports tend to give star players the benefit of the doubt. There are a few reasons for this, some good and some bad, but it isn't exactly proof of a conspiracy. I feel confident that the league isn't phoning up refs and asking them to make calls on behalf of the Patriots, and I am reasonably confident that the refs don't really care who wins.
