    Top 10 by OPS+, min. 3000 PA's:

    1. Alex Rodriguez, 154
    2. Chipper Jones, 147
    3. David Wright, 136
    4. Troy Glaus, 126
    5. Scott Rolen, 124
    6. Eric Chavez/Aramis Ramirez, 117
    8. Corey Koskie, 113
    9. Mike Lowell, 111
    10. Casey Blake/Bill Mueller, 109

And all the guys mentioned by WAR:

    1. Alex Rodriguez, 72.9 (38 solely at 3B)
    2. Chipper Jones, 50 (40.8 at 3B)
    3. Scott Rolen, 47.1
    4. Eric Chavez, 33.9
    5. Adrian Beltre, 32.4
    6. Troy Glaus, 31.5
    7. Mike Lowell, 28.9
    8. David Wright, 27.1
    9. Aramis Ramirez, 24.3
    10. Corey Koskie, 21.6
    11. Casey Blake, 20
    12. Bill Mueller, 13.2
    13. Ryan Zimmerman, 12.3

Curious as to why there's the sentiment that Chipper should be ahead of A-Rod. If you look solely at their time at 3B, it's excruciatingly close and could go either way (but Scott Rolen then would beat them both). If you look at their overall body of work, it's A-Rod by a mile.
It's sad to see this list and think of what might have been for Chavez and Koskie.

Looking at A-Rod solely at 3B
    1 Chipper
    2 A-Rod
    3 Rolen

I'd like to think of Chipper, Rolen, and A-Rod as the top 3. Maybe in that order....
Just reading the caption on this one, I agreed with the above. Chipper has been an amazing 3rd baseman since the 90s. Rolen had good offensive numbers till a few years ago but is incredible with the glove. You said decade. ARod didnt start playing 3rd till 2004. Now if you said best infielder, ARod by a frigging million.

Considering he plays no other position except for 2 years in LF, and A-Rod has 4 at SS yes, not to mention FAR more time at DH

Especially Chavez. I was a huge fan of his. He was absolutely a magician with the glove, and he could really hit when healthy.

    Huh?

Jones has 977 games played at 3B this decade. A-Rod has 868, which is about 2/3 of a season less.

Jones also has 23 games at DH throughout the decade. A-Rod has 26.

Yes, however that was due to Injury which I dont think should factor in. If you were to look at the stats of each... Chipper was listed as a 3B for 8 seasons, A-Rod for 6. Tho games played were closer than that, A-Rod was NOT a 3B.

Why shouldn't you factor in injuries?

And...on paper...A-Rod only played a third of a season less in terms of games.

I don't see why you would ignore injuries. They're part of what goes into Chipper's value.

As HGM pointed out, their value at 3B is very similar. Chipper played 2 extra years, but each of those years was less valuable than A-Rods - both because A-Rod is slightly better, and because Jones was injured for at least some of those 8 years.
