that is what I am noticing.

The fact that Thome was number 9 on the first basemen list is retarded. Granted, you can't count games as a DH.

but Soriano as number 3, with Pedroia 4 and Roberts 5?

And Fielder was so highly rated on the first basemen list even though he didn't play until like 06 or 07 (don't remember which year was his first) yet they put someone more productive in more time at the beginning of the decade behind him.

MLB Network is putting up their lists, I am sharing with the community so we can debate.

And it's supposed to be overall players at the positions. They don't really go into detail when making the lists.

and they opening say that the breakdown is not to end arguments, but to start them.

In fact, the analysts, Harold Reynolds, Mitch Williams for example, usually seem to disagree pretty greatly with the decisions that are made on the lists.

Technically, Prime 9 is doing the lists.

Harold Reynolds and Mitch Williams are gigantic buffoons. Calling them "analysts" is a disgrace to the word "analyst."

    commentators, whatever.

    they aren't really that bad.

Reynolds dismisses the importance of OPS though because speed players aren't important.

But I am willing to bet he doesn't understand wRC+ either

Their "analysis" of the recent trades has made me want to smash my tv.

oh, i don't listen to that....I tend to hear them talk about in game mechanics etc.

Hearing baseball players talk like executives is worthless. I highly doubt any formal baseball players would really make successful GM's. Or it would be rare.

They view the game differently than management does.

Too bad Steve Phillips was a GM and sounded retarded when talking about trades.
