Check this out: Jewish Major Leaguers, Inc. ("JML"), the Boston-based not-for-profit baseball history organization that produces Jewish baseball cards and Hall of Fame programs honoring Jews in the game, is currently conducting online balloting for Jewish Major Leaguer of the Decade. The winning player will be announced in January. And check out the card sets: Pretty unique, with Kevin Youkilis, the organization's player of the year in 2008, prominently featured. Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun was '09 player of the year, with Scott Feldman of the Rangers pitcher of the year.

Looking at their all-time Jewish players roster. I never would have guessed that Ruben Amaro was Jewish.

Good old Hank sure helped out thats for damn sure.
I read an interesting article years ago about how Hank Greenburk helped J Robinson out when he 1st came up, because of the adversity (albiet not as bad) as Jackie had.

Ruben is a typical, perhaps even stereotypical, Jewish name (though with an atypical spelling) but Amaro sounds Hispanic--and there are very few Hispanic Jews, because of Spain's expulsion of Moslems and Jews (and the subsequent Inquisition).

Ruben is a very popular Latino name.
