Two things:
1. Type A Free agency. Without this, there's no point in NOT re-signing any decent player. Even if you can't afford him, it behooves you to sign and trade him.
2. Money in trades should be able to be applied to budget somehow. The value of cash in the game will be much higher and more realistic to how it's seen in the MLB.
Thanks!
Some more things to do with spare cash maybe? Maybe you can invest in a team TV network which would cost a lot at first but would pay off in the long run. Maybe banks where you can leave some cash and have it gain interest?

Or:
Play the stock market to increase (or lose) your cash
Invest in medical research and purchase bionic upgrades to your players
Bribe local officials to build your stadium free of charge to you
Pay hit men to kneecap opposing team stars
Clay: Better get working on this ASAP.
Really NEED pre-1900s support, at least until 1869.
Yeah adding the years before both Major League solidified would be a mess. Rules were frequently different, lot's of player data missing..and teams frequently played one year (or sometimes didn't even make it through the year) to warrant an addition to the game such as that.
I know on the OOTP demo I tried out, you were able to start earlier than 1901.
OOTP stinks though, and I was mainly referring to the NL. In the Nl teams always played at least the entire season, however, in the NABBP and the NL's competitors this was case. Only NABBP's amateur teams were like that though, every pro team made it through at least that season, and same with the NAPBBP. For the NL's competitors, the team always finished the season, but would relocate during it sometimes. But it is just like the Angels and their mid-season name change. California to Anaheim if I remember right.
It doesn't NEED real players, I just want to do pre-1901 SIMULATION.
I said I didn't NEED them, I'd just want to be able to go back farther, for like the Encyclopedia and stuff, I could simulate it or even make identical records to real life, and someone could make a mod for real players, or I could add them to my game myself, so really I just need the Capability to go back farther.
