I had the Braves as possible NL WC candidates, but with this trade I can't see that happening :|

If Vizcaino is truly the guy coming back then it doesn't help them now at all. And Melky Cabrera isn't a good player. He's a league average bat (career 91 wRC+) and a good COF but below average in CF.

    Yeah...

Disreguarding the Yankee hate that is drowns out the discussion.

Here again we see the brilliance of the Yankees GM. It's not all about money.

There's only one person in the entire thread that threw out any "Yankee Hate". But..you know..drowning out the discussion!

Not that this makes the trade any better than it is, but

    d_a_cameron

For people ripping this trade for Atlanta - Braves got significantly more for Vazquez than Phillies did for Lee.
I'd agree too. The Phillies got a possible 4th OF and 2 relievers while you guys got a 4th OF and Vizcaino. Doesn't make it a good trade, but hey, at least you guys didn't give up Cliff Lee for 3 unspectacular prospects.

    According to Rosenthal

Trade indeed 3-for-2. Did not have all details at time. Analysis of deal coming up on FOXSports.com.
I assume he's talking about this deal and not the SEA/TOR one.

I wonder if there is anything out there for the braves trying to Lock up Jair? Or, if he has another good year would they trade him Knowing he is a Boras client? I bet we could get a LOT back for him if he is as good this year as last? Can you see him and Freeman to get Prince Fielder? It would really help both sides and they DO have Medlen just waiting to be promoted...

Interesting Comment in the MLBTR comment section...

If Chipper gets hurt, Glaus can move over there, and we can either see what Freeman can do (if he is setting the minors on fire) OR put Diaz at 1B and play Heyward on the OF.

The more I think about this possible signing the more I like it...
Still doesn't make up for the ASININE trade or Vazquez... but I like how it leaves $$$ out there to get someone mid season if needed.

So Melky in CF, Mcclouth in RF, Diaz/Heyward in LF?

Re: Braves official moves 2009-2010 offseason

12:21pm: David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says (via Twitter) that it's a one-year deal worth $2MM plus incentives. O'Brien doesn't expect the deal to be announced until after the holidays, since Glaus still has to take a physical. Dr. Lewis Yocum inspected Glaus' shoulder this month, so the physical should be routine.
DEFINATLY worth a shot with a 2-3 mill base.
Hell they gave Glavine 2 mill last year
and Anderson 2.5 million last year.
Glaus is a better signing than anderson was (which I said last year when signed, and bltched bout all year )
Of course we could probably have Abreu which would make me happier than a pig in mud but I wont open that wound.

Looks good to me... Kind of getting excited to see Heyward.

I like McClouth 2nd to be honest but no biggie
I like the lineup... If heyward is the real deal and he his killing the ball I say slide him up to 5th and our lineup is better than I thought. Glaus is not a TERRIBLE hitter, and is a decent hitter in the #6 spot

lol Imagive if he is a 25 HR guy
    Jones,Mccann,Glaus Heyward 20+ HR
Thats not to bad for power in teh middle

But if Glaus flops and Heyward jus isnt quite ready...
    we are in trouble
I like prado in the leadoff better... but it WOULD push Jones to 4th

The Braves have no true lead-off hitter/base stealing threat, but have 4 somewhat-prototypical #2 hitters (Esco, Diaz, Prado, and McClouth kinda).
