    Braves official moves 2009-2010 offseason

Ok lets make 1 thread (per others suggestions )

    what should they do?

I would not mind seeing Nick Johnson or Carlos Delgado as a Brave. I think if we can get Laroche on a 1 year witn MAYBE another and make his contract incentive laden... somehow... I would take it... I am just affraid they are going to put too much stock in this guy they have at 1B in the minors. I dont want what happened to Frenchy to happen to him... make sure he is ready.

Wagner was a good move I think... Thou I would have liked to get Gonzo or Sorriano back (not both).

Just dont do anything Rash like they did with Lowe... that was direct result (the 4 yeras and 15 per) of the Smoltz disaster. I say throw 4-6 at smoltz see if he would come back (doubt it especialy with Wagner here so he wont close)

Crawford would be a GREAT pickup but I think it owuld take to much... and I want to be sure thy can sign him 1st... dont need a Texeria mess again.

Braves Expect Soriano & Gonzalez To Leave

well... the 8 mill hit would hurt BADLY... BUT... if we can ship lowe/kiwakami elsewhere it may take the edge off and we may be able to keep him... OR if he accepts we may be able to ship him somewhere *cough cough Tampa cough* tho we would probably have to eat 3-4 million... but if it could get us Crawford

3:57pm: Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com has the contract details. Saito will earn a $3.2MM base salary with another $2.3MM in incentives. Interestingly, all but $500K of the incentives are based on games finished, which should be Wagner's department.
lol... they are going to trade Wagnor at the deadline

and its an insurance policy if ol' Mr Billy goes down

As noted in the big offseason thread Sorriano may accept arbitration... Well... now we can trade him I think teams are more willing to take him on if it is 1 year. He has had injury problems before... If he takes arb... he may actualy be screwing himself... UNLESS he stays healthy this year... then he should be able to get a 2-3 year deal next year. Think we can package him with Lowe to make the Lowe pachage better looking or do you think a team will balk at a deal taking on 20+ mill for this year and another 15 each year.

I remember seeing somewhere that they thought the braves would have to kick in 1-2 mill per year to dump Lowe... Why not kick in 4... still saves is 11 mill the next 3 years... That gives us the room to sign Laroche to 2 years 7-9 mil and not.

11:29am: Heyman notes that Soriano has attracted interest from the Yankees, Orioles, and Astros. The Yankees would give up their #32 pick, the Orioles #37, or the Astros #43.

9:54am: Joel Sherman of the New York Post notes that if he accepts arbitration, Soriano cannot be traded before June 1st without his permission. I imagine he'd approve a deal in order to get a better role, though. Can Soriano find a two-year deal on the open market, given his health history and the draft pick cost?
not that I REALLLY want Swisher... but... could they maybe be thinking this route.. I dont mind his ~6-7 this year but that 9 mill next year would be trouble... We dont need another Andruw Jones type hitter of .220

It then gives the yanks also that bullpen arm that puts both Joba (foolishly), and Hughes back in teh rotation and makes a top flight Starter unnesicary with CC, AJ, Andy, Joba, Hughes rounding out the rotation

    Ryan Church DFA'd

Mmm, sure got a lot back in that Franceour deal....mmhmm.

At least your bullpen will be super-sweet, with the three closers fighting and all!!!

They got rid of him. That's all that matters. I'm pretty sure they would have just released Franceour.

agreed. I have a feeling we will resign him... just needed room to put sorriano on the roster. It does make Diaz a fulltimer if they dont get 2 OF'ers tho. Rumor on MLBTR was that there was at least 1 team interesed in taking Sorriano AND low. I like that. I hope its prospects or decent OF. Not that I like Dunn that much but can u see Washington/Atlanta swap with Atlanta throwing in 2-4 mill next 2 years. I mean that splits the cash, Washington gets a vet Starter and a GOOD bullpen arm they need desperatly

Does the release of Church mean the entrence of Mike Cameron... Offensivly I think he is slippin a bit (I think) but the defense in the OF would be very good. not sure how it would work tho cameron in RF Nate in CF or vise versa?

McLouth has never been a very good CF. If you're talking about maximizing defense it would be Cameron in CF, but who knows if they'd do that.

Braves, Rays Agree On Rafael Soriano Trade
well right team he went to but thought maybe a bigger deal to bring crawford

Jesse Chavez Decent pickup I mean we know little about him he played ok last year... would liek to see a bigger K/B ratio
