Nationals decline on Livan Hernandez, Austin Kearns, Dmitri Young, Josh Bard and Ron Villone.

None were ranked, though, so it doesn't really matter.

Rays now say no to Springer. About 20 minutes to go and all we lack is the Giants' decisions.

    Re: Arbitration Roundup

Now that the arbitration deadline has passed, all players have until December 7th to decide if they are going to accept arbitration. If they decline, their former team will be compensated with a sandwich pick between the first and second rounds of the draft (for Type B FA), or with a sandwich pick AND a pick from the FA’s new team (for Type A FA). This would not apply, however, if said player declines the arbitration offer, but ends up signing with his original club. Also, if the FA doesn’t sign with a new team before the 2010 draft, his original team will get nothing. For all the ends and outs of this process, check out the second post in this thread. Remember that all teams who declined to offer arbitration to their FA players, regardless of their type, will NOT receive any type of compensation should those players sign elsewhere.

Now, here is a list of players that will require the teams that sign them to forfeit a draft choice (Type A):

Marco Scutaro (SS), Chone Figgins (3B), Jason Bay (LF), Matt Holliday (LF), John Lackey (SP), Mike Gonzalez (LHRP), Rafael Soriano (RHRP), Jose Valverde (RHRP), Billy Wagner (LHRP), Rafael Betancourt (RHRP)

Here is a list of players that will NOT require the teams that sign them to forfeit a draft choice, but who’s former team WILL receive a sandwich pick (Type B):

Rod Barajas (C), Ivan Rodriguez (C), Greg Zaun (C), Mark DeRosa (IF/OF), Adrian Beltre (3B), Marlon Byrd (OF), Justin Duchscherer (SP), Jason Marquis (SP), Carl Pavano (SP), Joel Pineiro (SP), Fernando Rodney (RHRP), Brandon Lyon (RHRP), Brian Shouse (LHRP)

well if we can't get pinero, derow or holliday, we will get three new picks next year.

obviously not what i want overall, but it would at least be something.
