Would just like to state that Pat Venditte is still improving and had a solid year.
Actually a great year!
Any chances we see this as an option in Mogul moving forward on rare occasions?

I'm still hitting myself for not getting around to seeing him in 08 when he was pitching on Staten Island.

As he improves, odds are he will improve with only one arm, the ambi-pitching thing is neat, but assuming he advances, will mostly likely never appear in the majors or even higher minors ....If it does odd are it will happen like it did with Wierd Al and just be a gimmick either very early or very late in his career.
The Red Sox had a pitcher like that on the roster, he even had a glove thqt he could switch hands as needed. Lou Gorman, ever the trend setter, would not let him try it in games. What was his name........
there it is.
Harris' unusual ability to pitch with both hands led to some tension between him and the Red Sox, who forbade the ambidextrous hurler from throwing lefty. GM Lou Gorman insisted it would "make a mockery" of the game, leading Harris to grumble, "Boston is so conservative. People are afraid to try anything." In a muted show of defiance, Harris usually chose to wear an ambidextrous glove on the mound
the whole story...

I believe Venditte has a chance to be a real everyday major league reliever. He put up ridiculous numbers in High A. There isn't any reason to think he couldn't repeat those numbers in the higher minor leagues or in the major leagues even. He is still pretty young, and has developed good solid pitches.
I think he raised his chances at being a legitimate future option this year.
The road to the major leagues is littered with position players and pitchers who put up ridiculous numbers at High A and higher and didn't make a dent in MLB. Let's give him a chance to progress before we crown him the next...um, well there's never been another one like him has there? Hrrm.

well i am not crowning him anything. I simply believe that by numbers alone he proved himself to some of minor league baseball.
He also isn't facing real threats in High A, and a lot of guys can't hit splits against their own handedness, so he could be great until Triple A where he will start to run into lefties that can hit lefties and righties that can hit righties.
but as of right now, there isn't any reason to think he can't preform at the next level....and we all know there is a major bump in the competition at Double A over Single A's and Rookie League Ball.
I bet that by 2012 he will at least be in Triple A and still developing. I don't know how much of a career that would allow (he will be 27 then) but that means he could easily be placed on an active roster at some point.
I don't see the Yankees bringing him up unless he can compete. Not as a side show.
But you are correct, there are tons of players with great minor league careers that never even reach the majors, or if they do, can't stay there.
Tim Raines Jr, Stubby Clapp to name two.
Does he regularily change arms when pitching and is he just as good with each arm???
yes he changes regularly.
Right now he is being used as a closer and pitches right handed against righties and left handed against lefties, and picks based on scouting reports which arm when facing switch hitters.
He is just as effective from each side, but as tang says, he doesn't throw all the same pitches from each side.
He throws harder from the right side then he does the left side, but he is still effective from each side.
when he was in creighton, he was used as a situational reliever, and if he was used one day and threw 40 pitches from the right side, they would still use him the next day from the left side.
i wanna know if this can be added in mogul
